Haha, you always find a way to put a positive spin on everything, Rob! Harpos is such a sh*t hole. My friends car got broken into during a show – they stole the CD player but left the CD haha. Saw some great shows there but it was always get in and get out as quickly as possible.
2:00 I have this sampler CD from a Machine Head show at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus Ohio. At the time it was a good venue with good acoustics and house sound. Attracted some heavy hitting acts. Miss those days. Rob I enjoy your channel and the awesome work you did in Chimaira. ????

I still remember the 2003-2007ish when everyone in the metal scene were playing ESP/LTDs with the good ol' EMG 81-85 combo. The EC-1000 VB was the king of metal back then. Miss those days haha.

Shit i been listening to rap/hip hop since 1986, major example jamming Ice-T before he even had BC, old school shit also, everything from Big Daddy Kane, Beastie Boys, RUN-DMC to Brotha Lynch Hung, Fugees, Etc. Broad music tastes also anything from Hendrix, SRV, The Time, to Stabbing, Vehemence etc. Jam what you want i say, hell with haters!

My band started running ears at the start of the year, still no clicks etc but my god, they're a game changer.
We're playing in a lot of small, crappy venues with absolutely ruined monitors and 15 minute changeovers without our own sound guy so monitor mix on stage was always garbage. We bought a cheap desk that can be mixed from your phone and we're patching everything into that.

I think the ESP/LTD thing might be regional. I’m in Canada (province of Ontario), and everyone, including myself, always played LTDs. Still got my EC-1000 in see through purple. Not the current purple, the older model (2008) with the abalone binding all the way around the body, headstock, and entire neck.
Anyone that limits themselves to one genre of music is a damned fool. There’s soooo much music out there for us to enjoy. This elitist idea that “real metal heads” only listen to metal is total BS.
Metal is my favourite genre, and 90s East Coast rap is my second favourite, and I listen to everything else in between. I was with my Mom in the car the other day and we were rocking out to my 80s pop songs playlist. I even enjoy singing along to some Backstreet Boys tunes from time to time. And George Michael is in my top 10 favourite vocalists.
I actually think rap and metal have a lot in common. Not all rap. But the aggressive, violent rap that has hard beats and brutal lyrics. Which is why I like 90s East Coast shit so much. It’s grimy and raw. It’s hard. It’s in your face and unapologetic. It resists conformity (modern rap encourages social conformity) and aims to fight the system. All words you’d also use to describe metal.
The ego you must have to be personally offended that a guitarist in a metal band also enjoys rap. Smfh ????????♂️

Tiny hands… tiny fiddles lol. Play what you love and what works for you is what works. Your ESP’s inspired me to get one back in 02. Got a Viper 301 and loved it. Had to sell it but still love the brand. Hope the Jackson does you well man.
I've really enjoyed your sort of raw responses, how you get deep into details of your craft, and that you spend so much time actually reading and replying to comments. I don't think it makes sense to box yourself into only enjoying a single type of music but metal elitists are extremely prevalent on the internet (especially when they're hiding behind their keyboards). Just gotta keep doing your thing, block out the hate, and remember that 90% of your audience is probably loving the content and just watching and waiting for the next vid instead of commenting at all. Also I've been stoked to see you and the rest of the guys in Chimaira back at it, I think the last time I saw you guys was back in 2010 with Shadows Fall.

Unfortunately allot of rock/metal fans are very close minded. Here is a funny story for ya. I was at this barbeque about a year or so ago and this girl was talking about bands she liked Korn being among them. Then she went on a rant about hip hop but also made some comments why she didn't like it because a majority of rappers are black/gangsta culture etc. I couldn't believe what I just heard. I was also shocked about how so many laughed and agreed. I then jump in and say you do know Korn has a ton of hip hop influence and even did songs with Ice Cube and Nas, and also that rock music has roots in African American culture? Lol i got allot of shit for just stating facts. It's fine if hip hop is not your thing but sometimes it brings out racist peoples real views really quick. Safe to say I never went to any barbeque he threw again and avoided him, her and some other co workers that were there from then on out. I say don't let those people bully you into anything or dictate what kind of videos you make.

I've used LTDs for 25 years, ESP/EII for 5 years… known lots of people in the Lexington, KY scene who play all 3 ESP/EII/LTD. Definitely more for metal than anything else, but they're for sure out there.
Im from Detroit, and oddly enough some friends and i drove to Cleveland to see you guys at the odeon… you were still playing valvestates and ibanez 7 string prestiges at the time. Never seen you at Harpos but i did get hepatitis from the toilet seats in that venue. Chimaira will always be awesome in my book. Cheers

Played in Detroit at harpos with u guys when mark couldn’t play! You had asked me to come up and sing with u guys, but I didn’t know when to go up!! Cause arch enemy and god forbid helped and I didn’t want to step out of line. Cause we were just honored to do the show with u guys!
I saw Sevendust at Harpo’s around 2004.. yeah that venue is wild haha! And Rob your channel is great, I’ve been a Chimaira fan since Pass Out. Forget the haters, keep doing your thing man!
