  • Love my evertune bridge in my Solar a1.6d 27” baritone. Sooooooo much easier to setup than a tremolo bridge ???? They’re great like u said for metal rhythm playing and if u keep that guitar in the same tuning. If you’re wanting to change tunings then it’s definitely not the bridge for u. I’d suggest if you’re in a band and play in just 1 tuning then they’re amazing. If u can afford it get 3-4 guitars for the different tunings u want to play in. I have one for standard/drop D, drop C, drop A, drop G, drop F, and drop E. Also a few others for different genres and to go up or down a semi tone.

  • I’m having trouble playing chords with my acoustic guitar. Is it because of a higher saddle? I notice a lowered saddle I can play chords perfectly and faster. If anyone can answer.

  • Your video is great, tell me one thing, every time you change the tension or string gauge, for example if you go from 12 to 11 or the other way around, do you have to recalibrate everything again?

  • Hi, I can see that your video is quite old but still very relevant. I have an acoustic guitar that plays well and is intonated well except for the 6th string. Can I file the bridge slot a little to lower the note as it is too high on the 12th fret. The other strings sound good but the 6th is high at the 12th fret but barely noticeable at the 7th and slightly noticeable at the 9th. Thank you.

  • 1-Is it necessary to lower the string height on all acoustic guitars?
2-What should be the optimum string height at the first fret and at the 12th fret?
3-Is it true that when calibrating the guitar, that is to say, the height of the strings, filing the bone or maybe adjusting the rail or the nut, it is necessary to check it for at least 2 days so that the wood rests and gets used to the tension that is being given?

  • "I normally go for between .6 and .8 mm". Where, how, what? Presumably you measure something first? Pretty useless video.

  • nice vid, I have been searching for an acoustic/electric guitar with a very low action (or potential for a very low action) – At the stores, they all seem very high to me. Do you have any recommendations for guitars that are particularly very well suited for guys who want a low action (for lead playing) on an acoustic electric. I've learned that things like large fretboard radius (flat fretboard) help with a low action setup for lead playing and thin necks help. Any recommendations from acoustic guitars that you have worked on that are particularly well suited for a low action set up for lead playing?

  • Thank you so much, Kris. I'd love to learn all of this. I live in a very small city. It would be nice one day to be "that guy" who fixes and adjusts guitars (luthier) here in my hometown. I'm nervous now but learning as much as I can. I'm a sponge for information.

  • So my sister bought a guitar fifty years ago and gave it to me 35 years ago. Before youtube, I always determined to be a good steward of the instrument. Since youtube, it is easier to know what to do thanks to videos like yours.
Incidentally, the guitar has not been just a dust collector while in my possession.

  • This video is horrible. You tell people how much to remove from the saddle without measuring the original saddle height. Very bad advise! The amount of saddle to remove depends on the original height of the saddle vs the final desired height which you fail to address. Skip this video before you ruin your saddle and need to order a new replacement. This is the worst setup video I've seen yet.
