  • Amazing video, no unnecessarily long intro, straight to the point, keep up the amazing work

  • I have been trying to learn guitar for years. I'm 51 and played piano most of my life, and I can read the music just fine. I'm struggling with acoustic and how it hurts my fingers along with the width of the neck, so I just got some new lightweight strings that help. I also have an electric guitar that I've never played. I found it in a dumpster a few years ago and couldn't let it get trashed, even though I don't play. I already have an amp and new strings for it, I just need a cord. I was curious if it would be easier to learn on an electric and now I'm here.

  • Also you get what you pay for. Buy a kapok at a pawn shop it will be terrible. Get a decent Yamaha with low action and it will be night and day to play. Acoustic is my favourite it’s portable throw it in the car and go play in nature

  • I learned the hard way, don’t buy a cheap Acoustic as a beginner, the action sucks on most really cheap acoustic guitars, and learning to play won’t be any fun, more like torture really, especially if you’re an older beginner, 50’s with arthritis in your hands and fingers.

  • Acoustic then electric imo. Most guitar players will play both. Better to put a good amount hours into the acoustic, more raw and manual. Yes harder but when you transition to electric, holy smokes it will make you wayyy better right away.

Starting on electric then getting an acoustic, it is like starting all over again in terms of your hand and finger strength.

  • The genre I chose was rock I know I’m a lil stupid with music instruments and stuff like that but again I chose rock as genre what guitar should I use electric or acoustic?

  • It doesn't matter what kind of guitar you choose. The only thing that makes any difference is this : does the guitar have a monkey grip? That is the most important feature that any style of guitar must have. No monkey grip, no groupies and that is a fact.

  • Let’s start with the more obvious similarities between acoustic and electric guitars. Both an acoustic and electric guitar have six strings, tuning pegs that allows you to alter the pitch of each of those six strings, a fretboard and frets.

There are also obvious difference, such as electric guitars having pickups or metal bars on the body of the guitar to “pick up” the vibrations of the guitar strings and convert them into electrical signals played through an amplifier, or how acoustic guitars are a bit thicker and bulkier in their construction, whereas an electric guitar tend to be flatter.

Whether you start out on acoustic or electric guitar, both of them require a commitment on your part to learn and practice. Regardless of whichever variety of guitar you choose, you’ll adopt a new vocabulary of chords, scales, and techniques that can be applied to both acoustic or electric guitar.

  • One time I learned how to slap on an acoustic guitar but I started dreaming of electric guitars. Usually I would prefer both.

  • my mom keeps sayin to buy an acoustic guitar first because she says to learn it first then an electric, but i like indie rock and grunge. I only have 2 options here in the philippines, either buy an acoustic and learn it or buy a starter kit with an electric guitar (thomson strat) and learn it. I dont know which to pick.

  • Now I understand why it’s so hard to play rock and funk music on acoustic. Playing Under The Bridge RHCP on acoustic is annoying especially when it’s meant to be played on electric but now Ik I don’t have to beat myself down whenever I buzz playing that song on acoustic thinking I’m a shit guitarist

  • I had an electric guitar several times in the beginning and I didn’t learn much. Had problems with the amp connection etc. but with the acoustic I learned chords fast and could just pick it up and play. Much easier.

  • Thabk u for tha advice. I started playing ukulele when i got interested of learning instruments. My dad bought me a acoustic guitar which I kept on asking to have. But I actually wanted to play electric guitar more than acoustic, but they keep saying that I should learn how to play the acoustic first. But the way i play it sounds like shit and i felt that I wont be good at electric if i cant play the acoustic guitar. Thank u really for the advice.

  • Acoustic of course… no doubts … cheap hard core string cutting edge .. pain manipulating your ears and sounds .. while a record spins .. GypsyTrail ????????

  • Does electric guitar need to be plugged in I mean we can produce music as it is or we need to plug it in speaker?

  • I’m used to electric, recently bought an acoustic, oh it’s legitimately harder to get it to sound good depending

  • I love acoustic! It’s what I learned on and trust it was a challenge because bars chords are no joke on acoustic. Each have their own challenges.

  • A YouTube video that gets right to the point, doesn't drag it out and answers the question in the title? Impossible.

  • I've always loved johnny cash's music aswell as old folk music so i got an acoustic. And if I ever go to electric it will feel like a walk in the park because of my experience with accoustic

  • I bought an electric guitar over three months ago (first time I've ever even held one) but after 3 months of daily practice I'm thinking about giving up or buying a cheap acoustic. Why? because I have large hands and fingers and it's been making it a nightmare to practice on my electric, the neck is just too slim for my hands. So after months of trying I'm considering acoustic or quitting. We'll see. (I'm into Rock and roll and pop btw)

  • My first guitar was an acoustic and everything I played sounded like shit; It was ruining my interest in the hobby altogether.
Last week at my friend's birthday party he let me try his electric and everyone including myself couldn't believe how good it sounded.
    Night and day.
Electric has got to be the way to go for beginners.

  • I’ve always been a fan of acoustic but I’ve been playing both for bout 20 years on and off now and I’m 28 atm I have a fender A/E but I’m getting a electric next month and I love the fact I can take my acoustic everywhere and it makes it also easier to learn things you didn’t allready know from strangers cause you can just hand them your guitar and they can show you stuff they know and hand it right back to you lol

  • I'm gonna get one electric guitar in Christmas with my own money! (I'm 13 so that explains—14 by the time christmas comes) I already have an acoustic and still a beginner, but thriving so by the time it's Christmas I'll know how to play acoustics.
