  • For me, my marshall origin does a fantastic job for my doomy sludgy stuff.
I also have an orange or15, but i find it just doesn't work as nice with pedals; like it does but its a very coloured sorta sound and its pre amp kinda gets in the way.

The old school ness of the marshalls works well with fuzzes when you don't drive em too hard.

But my carvin legacy 2 actually does such a fantastic job with doom.
The bass is sooooo thick, mids are defined and highs are so harmonic.

I wish carvin still made amps ????

  • liked the orange and hiwatt the most. laney the least, but all sounded pretty decent

  • . Laney and Hiwatt … Marshall.. Electroharmonix sounded complete rubbish to me , so im thinking it sounded drastically different in the room ( durr ya dont say… for hows its miced up electro sounded too mushy and out of control to me , Orange a bit yes and no in a way… for some reason it sounds way better in the last bit of the video both emulated and miced.)

  • I think the best budget doom amp you can buy new is the orange super crush, but used you can get like a peavey musician for like 100 bucks and just use a berhinger superfuzz or a rat and you’re there

  • As a gigging musician who does both session work as well as my own music which dooms occasionally I would recommend a Fender Hot Rod DeVille(4×10 or 2×12) or Blues DeVille.

They sound great clean at both low and high volume, are amazing pedal platforms and can doom incredibly well with a fuzz pedal.
    They’re also pretty affordable used!
Only issue really is that they’re heavy, but if you put some wheels on them it’s not a big deal.

Incredible amps, super versatile, amazing spring reverb, only issue is that their drive channel is kinda ass, but I don’t use it anyway ????

  • I Will go with orange, recently i dont turn on and off the distortion pedal, i just clean my sound with the volume an tone knob,

  • You have a "Correct doom volume %" indicator on the back wall. With the attenuator on it's less than 100, with it all the way off it says 100%! ????

  • And then I come back to the Electro-Harmonix and it sounds so apocalyptic! This is difficult.

  • I love the contrast between the Orange and the Laney. I can’t decide which I love more.

  • Marshall JCM are used by sludge bands like eyehategod, down, iron monkey and acid bath. Also Kirk Windstein from Crowbar uses digital instead of tube amps now

  • Oz is a great player and usually have a great tone but he really needs to get off that neck pickup from what I’ve seen and learnt in doom it’s always bridge pick up and if you want a muddy deep sound you jus use amp or pedal to do so but neck pickup really takes away from the sound a lot

  • for the home producers: Neural DSPs Mesa IIC+, Soldano and Nolly is quite good capable of producing sludgy doom tones. I think Digital is just not good for a live situation.

  • Matt Pike lives not too far from me. He likes his whiskey and cigs more than anything else. He also lives across the street from an hot wing place called Fire on the Mountain (after the Grateful Dead song). High on Fire practices across the from Fire on the Mountain. It makes me laugh.

  • Play some Clapton riffs, yeah?

edit- Oz name dropping Elder!! Clearly he is a man of sophisticated taste.

  • I recently bought a Randall 1003 head and 2 4×12 cabs for $400. I know they are Solid State, GASP, but it's the sound of Louisiana Sludge and it's amazing for all Doom.

  • I watch a ton of Andertons videos.. this is one of few I just couldn't watch. Title needs to be how to make every amp sound like garbage. Never heard of DOOM before today and that was one time too many LOL

  • Think it's the Orange for me, although admittedly I'm not a doom player and it sounded more like what I'm used to hah. The ehx was so synthy sounding, I'd love to hear a bass run through it

  • Love Oz videos with Lee. Oz's energy and passion for heavy is infectious and always makes me smile. I'm a death metal guy but I always love that crushing wall of sound from doom tones

  • So happy to see this video from Andertons. Love all the demos but niche genre's like doom don't get enough quality gear videos from these bigger channels. Would love to see stuff for post punk and shoegaze etc.

  • Are you sure the TH30 is on full power mode? There's another power reduction switch around the back. (As well as half power switch in the front) These are unbelievably loud amps
