  • Does anyone else find that these are difficult to play without terrible fret buzz and a lot of annoying incidental noises? Has anyone figured out how to make this thing sound good? Because I don't often hear anyone play them in a way that sounds especially good to me — and I wonder if the emperor wears no clothes on this one.

  • I just played one for the first time. It was ridiculous fun. It really is a 'tool' instrument that anyone can use for ideas or just to have around the house. I like the rubber strings feel, as a guitar player. It's like a vacation on your fingers, and I think it suits this type of bass better than the steel strings. I was giggling like a little kid playing this thing. Also, it does have the upright bass sound. I may have to get one.

  • I’m amazed at how much it sounds just like my Hofner 500/1 Beatle bass! Anyone who wants that early Paul McCartney sound needs to get one of these!

  • The only benefit I can see with this instrument is the size. Let's all be honest. It's cute but sounds awful with those low tension rubber strings. Get a short scale or headless bass if you want a bass for travel.

  • I like it! We have two ukulele groups in Akron, OH and they have a u-bass player! Makes a HUGE difference in the group dynamics! Good travel piece for bass players when on holiday. ;{)

  • Yay Brandon, I love my concert ukulele but I have not seen or heard a bass ukulele. Looks fun.

  • Turn up the volume on the amp.
They sound great when EQ'd correctly through an old blackface Fender Bassman with a 15" JBL speaker. 🙂

  • Thanks for the NO LEMMO DEMO!
Phil Lesh is a pick style bassist, so he won't get mad at you!

  • Love all kala instruments but they are really not that affordable 500 to 600 is not for beginners affordable is mostly aimed at beginners. I payed 1 dollar for a Johnson uk 120 i fixed it myself threw some ernie balls on it plays like a fine koa wood ukulele. I wanna add if u play guitar you wanna guitar that plays right??? And 9 out of 10 times money aint a factor. So heres for the BEGINNER guitarist. The one in the stages of finding players for thier band and learning barre chords.

2019 epiphone by Gibson sg g-400 pro one of my favorite affordable guitars squire strats are another. You dont have to pay up the butt used squire for 70 bucks add about 80 worth of mods and its still cheap and plays incredibly well, i can play it on my line 6 and sound like metallica. Normans you need to really aim your videos toward the beginners too.
