Loud enough for a garage band?
Sold my marks bass amp last year and regret it. Does this hold up to marks bass with the crazy vibration
????????????????
You talk too much, as*hole!
Thank you….. Sorry can't spell your name Sir…????
fyi,
if anyone is doubting getting this. Trust me, it's a beast.
I play on vol 2 and the WHOLE house shakes. Basement, 2nd level, 1st level ????
That's why the majority of the time, I play with headphones. But that still sounds crystal clear.
Great price for a practice amp that you can totally gig with in a bar size stage.
I absolutely fell in love with the BA Series, started with the 108, the the 1040, and then the BA V2 115. I sold the 108 thinking I wouldn't need it, but I missed it so much I just tracked one down and bought so I could have one again.
Why isn't there a propper line out? ????
I just picked up one second hand, and the thing was in excellent condition.
Don't get me wrong,I still love my ampeg ba 112.
But like some one said earlier, this little Beast get's LOUD and it sounds amazing, whether you're using an active or passive bass.
I use this amp on my synthesizer. It sounds awesome and gets loud AF LOL
Line out is better. Have to use a direct box to pa.
Does it sound loud enough to rehearse with a band?
I have the earlier version of this BA 108. It's my home amp that i plug everything into. Mine has a real nice warm and deep bottom end. VERY surprising for such a small speaker. By the way, these are my favorite jazz guitar amps. I never use a guitar amp for my jazz guitar; only this.
I'm gonna pick up one of the new versions of this amp any day now to leave at my buddy's house for jamming in his living room. I like this amp, and all the ampegs because they have really substantial cabinets. They are on the heavy side, but they sound very fat and earthy on the low end; i love em.
great practice amp, gets distorted at high volumes so might not be good for jamming or gigging
The earlier version of the BA 108 had a line-out. Why would you get rid of it?
Really hope it comes back for version 3.
Any ideas on how to control the gain on the BA-108V2?
I live in a small apartment and my bass is super loud on its own so I love the -15 dB button on these Ampeg's. It makes the amp whisper quiet but doesn't butcher my tone.
How does this compare to the Fender rumble 25? Which one is better in terms of build quality and sound?
Lot of talk and not much sound testing.
What is the best please, Ampeg ba108, Hartke hd15 or Fender rumble 15? Thx
love it!
i bought one and for the first day it sounded great now on max volume you cant even hear it
Is this a good amp for home studio? I want to mic it with a shire sm57 or a mxl 990.
I also tried the bigger ampegs and they sound the same profile of sounds of course the bigger one sounds better but very close voicing
just tried the hartke hd 15 & 25 found them to be lacking any bass in particular tried the fender rumble 25 not bad or good tried the ampeg ba 108 any way you turn the knobs it sounds good bassy and warm
Should have included a line out and it would be perfect
I have the Ampeg BA-108 and it sound fantastic. I also have the Ampeg BA-210 and the BA-108 sounds better at lower volumes, exactly as you would hope for a practice/small gig bass amp.
Years ago I was lucky enough to purchase a new Ampeg SVT Classic all 300 tube watts and 3 Ampeg Bass Cab's and an 8 ohm Crown (owned by Ampeg) 810 Refrigerator cab. If memory serves me (Ampeg cab names are sometimes a mystery to me) I had the SVT 15E, SVT 210 and a SVT410H. I always ran the total impedance load at 2 ohms. The SVT had very good controls and I appreciate dthe selectable frequency switch on the front of the head. That SVT Classic never had a issues either, always ran perfectly! My rig was extreamly LOUD as it drowned out my hot rodded Marshall JCM MkII with a Full stack of JCM 900 1960 A and 1960B speaker cabs. That 15E cab alone may have been so punchy and low at 40Hz bass frequency that it may have damaged my hearing. I shall never stand in front of an Ampeg 15E bass Cab ever again. I shall stand always to one side from now on. Trust me the punch/air pressure wave hit's you like a giant Iron fist. You feel it as much as you hear it. I have never experienced anything like that to such an extreme force of power and tone.
I sold both of my super rigs because of neck and spine injuries, when I could not even hold my Fender P-Bass Fretless. I tried many things, double football shoulder pads that made me look like a KISS band member, double straps, back braces. Nothing helped so I sold my once in a life time rigs! I regret that to this very day.
Anyway right now I am playing a new fretless bass through my BA-108 and the tone sounded so much like my SVT Classic that I decided to make a comment on you tube. If you are considering this amp do yourself a big favor and purchase it. They are still only $99 in March 2019 and the tone is soooo good. I can practice all day and still enjoy and appreciate the tone.
I believe the engineers at Ampeg spent a lot of time dialing in the tone for the BA-108. Why not? Getting the tone just right in their smallest bass cab should lead anyone who has the BA-108 to listen too and possibly purchase the larger and more powerful Ampeg bass amps and cabs.
Just bought one today, very affordable and will easily annoy the neighbors
I'm a guitarist and I bought these wonderful amp to learn and use my bass. But I don't understand how to enable the distortion. Sorry for my ignorance, but I would like to understand these important thing. Because I think the distortion mode is not included, I tried to move the potentiometers but nothing happened. Should I buy a distortion pedal maybe. I'm a bit disappointed about these thing. I really like the distortion on bass! Anyway the amplifier sounds really wonderful.
What's that -15 dB switch? Like a mute switch?
I miss my Lakland Skyline 4402 deluxe. I'd pit that bass against a musicman any day of the week.
Thanks Dino. 3 yrs later. Am on verge of buying a used one. Your review demo is enough for me to likely go for it for same reasons to boot; cafe`/practice/teach/ small room… First bass player I ever played with c1965-ish, had that old, flip-out-head, heavy transformer, tube, bass amp (probably 12") …And yes, I can actually hear much of that full, deep throated, but kind of feathery, classic, Ampeg bass sound he had back THEN, in this new BA-108 in 2014..and sure it's the same in new ones here in
2017 and beyond….Ampeg, to me, is what Voxx is to Britain; the standard bearers….Ml-l….. Los Angeles
Did you use this with a line out ??? How does it sound ?
Question: I love the sound of this little guy. Is there a pre-amp or DI stomp box anyone can recommend that I can add to my pedal board to be able to mimic this sound at a gig? Would the Ampeg SCR-DI do the job or Sansamp Programmable DI, or something else altogether?
I bought the BA108 and it arrived in the mail today.
Best sounding amp for the money
i have one and love it for practice
How is it flat when it's on 5? Is it a boost and cut?
I have one … It work great for a practice amp in my office …
is that stil hearing even i playing with my drummer? thanks before
Thanks for the video Dino , do you think the Ba-112 should be enough to jam with a drummer and a 100 watt guitarrist? Thanks.
