AMPEG | SVT Time, Ep. 1 – Creating the Ultimate SVT Bass Amp

Creating the new Ampeg Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT bass amplifier is the topic as
Brand Marketing Manager Dino “The Ampeg Guy” Monoxelos and Products Manager Dom Liberati tee off their new “SVT Time” series.

*****
We surveyed our loyal customers to ensure that the design for the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT met and surpassed the items on their wish lists. That’s why the new SVT offers two discrete preamp channels that duplicate the revered tone from the amp’s most desirable eras: the original 1969 “Blueline” SVT and the mid-70s Magnavox design—and the two can be jumped together. Specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 tubes complete the picture.

While the period-correct graphics and fonts and etched panel firmly reinforce the Heritage 50th Anniversary SVT amp head’s vintage aesthetic, contemporary features like a newly enhanced balanced XLR DI output, user biasing, whisper-quiet fan, and Neutrik speakOn speaker outputs place its construction firmly in the present.

• The 1969 “Blueline” and mid-1970s Magnavox-era circuits in one amp
• Handmade in the U.S.A. from durable top-shelf components
• Detailed, period-correct graphics and fonts
• Modern features include a newly enhanced XLR DI output, user biasing, speakOn outputs, and spring-loaded side handles
• Specially sourced and matched Ampeg Super Valve 6550 tubes
• Not a reissue—the ultimate SVT for today

  • I bought my first in 1975 and still have several 70's heads and cabs but own a 1970 6146B head, the thing roars. Best bass amp ever made, period. I have two late 70's SV's and there is not much difference between early 6550 heads and late 70's 6550 heads, they have a lot of bottom and balls, both.

  • I've been playing for 35 years, and I've always wanted an SVT with and 8X10 cab. One of these days……

  • shame on you guys , you didn't use original vintage & stock fender jb / precision from the 70's to make this video demo!. you have managed to find an original svt from the 69's, was it that hard to find original pair of fender jb & pbass of about the same year to make it sound really authentic ??? what a waste. if i was living in the US, i could ship you over my original 1978's JB for making this video. i can't believe you guys are in the US and you just couldn't find one of those. you are using some piss poor yamaha bass guitar on a mythical 69's bass amp, to prove what? the historic svt sound was made playing on original fender jb & pbass.

  • I owned a 1976 blackline svt with 2 810 cabs, the best amp I ever owned

Where I can buy the tiny svt that I see on the table?

  • I have heard that Rod Stewart is using the 8 SVT's for his touring and they are now white.

  • The Ampeg 810's sound so good you will do I have done and buy a specific vehicle just to transport them! That good! Nothing new here! Been going on since 1969! I should know I'm that OLD. Throw that class D neo stuff in the garbage where it belongs! I do have two Hartke 12's don't tell anyone, they fit in my Corolla! And an EV 115B EV cabinet that kills as well!
