????????I have 20+ years with over 20,000 hours of musical instrument teaching experience and a total of 30 years of guitar playing experience with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the Chicago Music College of Roosevelt University. I teach acoustic guitar (6 & 12 string), electric guitar, classical guitar, jazz guitar, ukulele, bass (5 string), and tenor banjo (Irish tuning).
????I embrace ALL forms of music. Decades ago, I realized how music affected me positively on several levels. Throughout my learning process, I wholeheartedly felt in my soul that I wanted to share my knowledge and passion with others.
????????????I always wanted to be a musician since I was young. Whether it was singing to songs on the radio or dancing to records in my bedroom, music has always had a special place in my life.
????To turn this passion and influence others with the vast beauty of music is a dream come true and a uniquely rewarding privelege!!!

  • Love this… subscribed to your channel… BTW … the slide James played was done with a Zippo lighter.

  • Dylan later used Jimi’s arrangement in concert by Rolling Thunder period. True testament when the author uses the cover version. And surprised you do not seem to know who Dave Mason is.

  • I remember my first impression of Jimi's version was the urgency that matched the lyrics to this song. Listening to the isolated guitar parts as well is testament to his genius playing these 'fills' which I'm sure he picked up on the Chitlin Circuit in his earlier years and as sideman to many bands. He's sorely missed. RIP Jimi Hendrix.

  • good analysis. jimi played hybrid rhythm with flourishes everywhere., never really strumming,
like the impressionist painter who builds a picture from paint pixel dabs rather than strokes of the brush.
i played hendrix 40 yrs ago , but playing it doesn't translate to being able to create anything original.
an example is steve ray vaughan, he can play hendrix but can't compose anything.
and originality is everything, copies don't hold any value at all. i gave up guitar 30 yrs ago and switched to keyboard.
Its easier to compose on a keyboard.

  • So many covers of the studio version out there and Pilky27 is probs the only one to get Jimi's feel

  • When listening to Jimi, it seems that, for him, the guitar was a solved problem. Most guitarists seem to be looking to find the exact sound they want, Jimi had solved that problem and could just "make it cry or sing." Prince at the George Harrison tribute show makes it clear that he too had solved the guitar problem.

  • That wah pedal part includes an echo device too but it's the stereo panning that really got my attention back when I first heard it in 1970.

  • Brilliant analysis thanks. Love to watch you anyalise Jimi playing star Spangled Banner at Woodstock. Graham

  • Jimi Hendrix played by intuition – obviously it came from in his head. That’s the genius of the man. No one else was doing what did at that time. Sheer brilliance.

  • Dave Mason was with the band Traffic as was Stevie Winwood who played organ on the track Voodoo Child from the album Electric Ladyland. Just a wonderful musician. Such a phenomenally creative period in musical history. Everything changed during this period. It was a musical maybe a cultural revolution taking place with so many gifted musicians appear all over the place.

  • Jimi used a cigarette lighter for the slide part. He was trying to get a Hawaiian guitar sound. Yes that was a wah wah pedal on that solo after the slide. ✌????

  • Dave Mason was in Traffic. Jimi is also playing an acoustic underneath too. Jimi plays bass on the track as well.
