ARCHITECTS ‘The Sky, The Earth, & All Between’ album review

Jon from artv reviews the 11th album “The Sky, The Earth, & All Between” by British metalcore band Architects. Vocalist Sam Carter leads the charge on an album that’s highly influenced by producer Jordan Fish, known for his distinct style in Bring Me The Horizon. Will it translate here?

  • Y'all wanna see me review some albums again or WHAT?
Like this video, might cover Lady Gaga & Spiritbox if the interest is there…
Tell me your thoughts on the new ARCHITECTS in the comments!

  • Some context for House of Protection, if you weren't already aware… They're the two former members of Fever 333 that left that band, so it's their own duo project. The drummer of HoP is also the drummer for Night Verses!

  • I enjoyed what the band did sonically with the record, but the lyrics were a tad lack luster. They give us hints of excellence such as "take me to the place where the heavens are haunted" on Broken Mirror. But the lyrics for the most part have no follow through compared to previous material. And this is coming from a fan that appreciates FTTWTE and TCSOABS so I'm not a stereotypical "go back to their old stuff" fan.

  • Dream Theater’s “Parasomnia” is more enjoyable and memorable than this, even though James LaBrie stated in Revolver that Architects is one of the two bands that are carrying the torch of modern metal (Periphery is the other).

  • I don't really care about older Architects, as I didn't grow up listening to them and only discovered them with Holy Hell, which I don't really love either. This is the first Architects album I've really enjoyed overall with songs like Blackhole, Elegy, Evil Eyes, Whiplash, Curse, Brain Dead, and Seeing Red. Still a few tracks that are just forgettable unfortunately like Landmines, Broken Mirror, and Chandelier. It's a shame it's not as good as the singles made it out to be, but it's still my favorite Architects album overall

  • Fair review! I personally loved it however not sure what I’d give it!

Speaking of coming back up…….I’m stoked to see how you feel about the new ADTR album. I think it’s a big step up with a few duds.

  • While a step up in energy from the past two albums, this one just felt perfectly fine. Nothing awful, but nothing great either and Jordan Fish’s production is a bit too prevalent. I’m honestly worried that (despite not having been in BMTH for very long) he’s on his way to becoming the Jack Antonoff of the modern rock/metal circle and I don’t want that to happen.

  • I throughly enjoyed this album. I’d say it’s their best album since Holy Hell easily. Tons of great tracks here, and I actually really enjoyed judgement day. Definitely a very cohesive album which I enjoyed. My only issue was I do agree that Chandelier was a mid closer. Maybe just let it end with the absolute BANGER Seeing Red!

  • You know what kinda sucks to me. Bring Me has had such a unique sound with all of their recent albums, but a lot of that was thanks to Jordan. Now, Jordan is producing a lot of other albums putting such a similar vibe into those bands, to the point where I’m burnt out on that sound. It sucks bc even listening to Bring Me it doesn’t sound as unique anymore bc I’m tired of hearing that sound everywhere. Also not sure if Jordan had any part in Dig It on Bring Me’s last album, but the breakdown in Chandelier sounds almost identical even with the glitchy effects it’s almost comical

  • Listened to this album twice and I still dont know how to feel about it. You can definitely hear the Jordan Fish sound, which worked PERFECTLY with BMTH, but it doesn't work that well with Architects.

  • I'm in a weird spot, i joined the architects scene with for those that wish to exist, which i think it's an amazing album and i love it. I'm not a fan of the older material, i like some songs, but mostly they bore me. Classic symptoms it's an album that i also liked very much but not like the previously mentioned. And well, I'm dissapointed with this one. I think they tried too hard to please everyone (even with the whole fu old fans thing going on) and ended up pleasing no one, only managing to do it so with… 4 songs? I also am a big fan of bmth but i DESPISE the influence jordan had on this record. Dude just the insane tuning on sam's voice, why the fuck would you do that. It's horrible. The synths. Idk just the 4 initial singles, elegy and everything ends worked for me. The rest is awfully mid

  • For me this might be one of (if not) my favorite metal album of the decade so far. I loved how Jordan Fish produced it, the aggression and passion behind it feels so real.
For me, I'd rank it behind All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us & Holy Hell, but definitely above Classic Symptoms Of A Broken Spirit.

  • Any fellow Todd in the Shadows fans might remember the Human League episode where they gave up on trying to make their new sound and just got some hot producers and doing what they said to do. You can decide for yourself why I'm reminded of that when I listen to this album.

  • Probably streaming this album once and moving on. Much more excited for the new Car Seat Headrest in May after the 11 minute track that dropped.
