around 3:30 you name the frets in the "Bb Mixolydian mode" but the frets you say actually make the Bb Lydian mode, you say 6 and 8, then 5 7 and 8 but it should be 5 6 and 8 on the D and A strings
great video. Id love to see you use this format to teach the bass line for Window Shoppin by Hiram Bullock
Nice sounding bass. Great tutorial. Great job, Dan.
With the Nashville numbering system it's simple. 1-4-3-6-2-riff-1.
I could be wrong but it looks like Jaco plays it in the first position? Also is that a 72 ? Great job!
Great tutorial on this song mate! I’ve played it many times but have never taken the time to really dissect it to get that Jaco flavor on it. Very cool ????
Merci ????
Hi I love the way explain the theory and practical and what video clip s to look for mate you a faarrkn awsme bass player I seen a lot I mean a lot of video clips of this chicken song your my best video I've seen
Thanks
Great tutorial and a wonderful class. That bassline made Jaco super famous ! It's true 'The chicken ' was originally written by Alfred Ellis but it doesn't change the fact Jaco Pastorius made himself popular with it ! He paved to road for future jazz bass players to follow his incredible technique.. He left too soon. He loved Jazz but was particularly fascinated with music overall. Not only he listened to James Jamerson but noticed gospel lines and developed skills from it. The sad truth is that he was an awful person to work with ! He despised himself and everybody else…It brought him to a sad ending…
Thank you for sharing your talent with us…
Jaco plays B Flat on the A first position not the low E to start the tune
Great Lesson Dan! Thanks a bunch! All the best!
im the thousandth like lol
I really envy bass players: What you learn over the first chord you can easily transfer to any other chord by just remembering the finger pattern. Me as a horn player has to practice every chord separately ????????
good advice at the beginning: "try not to sound like Jaco". Well, I'll do my very best ????????????
Very cool video. Easy to follow Thanks I am learning this for a gig. This is very helpful
I’m need help on the thumb position right hand while playing different tempos , any recommendations ?there no place to rest it
I watch a few YouTube tutorials but I always find myself looking at your channel. Thank You ????????
I need to slow it to half speed and play it a gazillion times to get the ghost notes down.
This was bit confusing to me because the 7th in a B flat Dominant 7th should be Ab but the song clearly uses G, but you kept referring to that as the 7th.
Hi Dan .. love to see you let rip over this one day .. Jaco-esque.. would make a fab 5 min video .. best wishes always!
Thank you teaching us and not showing off like a lot of these other so-called teachers!!!!!!!
thank you Dan, excellent!
