Bebop Guitar Licks With Powerful Arpeggio Hack
One thing that is very typical for Bebop Guitar licks is how they use pivot techniques on arpeggios to get some beautiful melodic large intervals into the line. In this video I will show 4 examples on using pivot technique in jazz licks with a strong bebop flavour and give you a way to use this in your own solos.

Do you have a great arpeggio phrasing idea? Bebop or other jazz styles?
at the first line, why Bb?
This lesson is an example of why I love this channel. This is one of the most applicable tools for a guitarist to add to the toolkit! One thing I notice is that two players, using the same technique often sound different. I heard an older Jazz/R&B bassist in Washington DC tell me that everyone touched the instrument a little differently. I understand tempo, cadence, etc., but that really hints at subtle nuances: that's the "magic" I guess, ot I was just buzzed at the time and it sounded cool!
Triad arpeggios can be played in 3 ways :
– one note per string (3 string obviously)
– two note in lower string and one in higher string
– one note in lower sting and two in higher string.
Playing those three alternately to create arpeggios melody progression in fast manner, is what bebop jazz guitarist / jazz rock fusion guitarist often do, more than rock blues players. Which is hard stuff.
Really a great lesson. Based on it now I can work hours and hours thinking that way… Thank you so much Jens.
Hey Jens! Great lesson. If I may ask a question: I get the reasoning for choosing a GMaj7 arpeggio for the Em7 triad, But why choose a Bb arpeggio for an Aaug or A7 chord? How do you choose what arpeggios to go over a V chord? Or do you have a video details arpeggio choices for certain chords and cadences?
Thank you Jens!!!…again. I have been noodling around with these types of phrases for some time now. Your lesson has given me a new insight as to something that I "Heard" sounding very cool. Now it has a reason in theory to help me understand it better. Great lesson !!!!!
Nice licks… Can you explain about A 7 altered in detail like difference between A7 dominant vs A7 altered
Hey Jens, Love your videos ! do you still use the Jazzking picks from dawman because i cant seem to get them anymore ? i would really like to get some more !
Hi Jens, Thank you for the lesson and can you please clarify why you selected the GMaj7 for the arpeggios?
Thank you.. brilliant these are arpeggio ideas I never use. Ty for the ideas
Best lessons on Youtube. Hands down. Thanks for everything Jens!
