Beginner Bass Lesson #1 – The Plucking Hand Technique
Here’s the very first video of my “Complete Online Bass Method”. In this video I demonstrate the technique of the plucking hand.
My “Complete Online Bass Method” is a well organized and structured course built on the 4 fundamental pilars of good bass playing:
1. Playing technique (left hand , right hand) – this video belongs in this category
2. Fretboard Knowledge (get to know your fretboard) – you’ll find some exercises from this category here on my YouTube channel.
3. Reading – Standard notation isn’t hard to learn for bass players and the benefits are tremendous for your overall musical knowledge
4. Rhythm – of course the rhythm plays an important role in being a good bass player.
Each chapter of the course contains at least 2 exercises for each of those categories and comes along with corresponding videos, a pdf lesson sheet and several playalong and backing tracks.
You can access my “Complete Online Bass Method” if you become a $20 member of my PATREON page. I’ll upload 2 chapters every month.
The first chapter can be viewed for free on my PATREON page, so check it out:

Thanks for the videos, It's interesting to see how accurately the index finger is placed and resting on the strings without losing position. I have small hands, switching from thumb to index is challenging.
Been playing bass for some time without lessons. This is very instructive and helpful.
Thanks a lot; I came here with the humility of the beginner and now I can try to improve my plucking hand technique.
