Can we stop acting like Dream Theater is interesting? It's garbage, in my humble opinion. Stop acting like this shit is hard to play lol
It's great to highlight the struggles of learning a song! More and more musicians should share these experiences. While everyone rooting for perfection and posting super clean takes it creates this sensation that you cannot play any of these songs and that you dont have talent. Only they can play this ongodly way, which is incorrect. Every great musician goes through this. Well done SBL!
Honestly, without Dream Theater where would prog metal be? What bands would not be what they are today? Imagine how many people wouldn't pick up the instruments they play today?
When she changed to the Six I was like: Yeeeesss! That's what Myung plays! <3
i wanna see the other guy with glasses do in my opinion one of the fastest bass songs and thats "Run to the hills" Iron Maiden
Panic Attack is my warm-up song. It's complicated enough to warm up your left and fast enough to warm up your right. And there are a lot of parts where you can do 3 instead of 2 fingers on the right to alternate a bit. Very good song to learn as a bass player and just fun as hell to play.
(John Myung's sound is the Music Man Bongo. Almost all his basses have always, in one way or another, sounded like that)
Really liked the video! But that voice, it's like nails on a chalk board. Vocal fry is horrible.
Love the hat. Signed – has one in grey trucker hat style. Rocking the flat on my property too
I believe I have heard that John has a keyboardish approach to hitting the strings, and the third finger for speed
I think around Octavarium Myung was using Musicman Bongo basses.
love her energy
John Myung… say something about it ????????????
that was just the intro..u need to try the unisound
Her name on the Title? No IG in the description?
Cruelty for content I get it but, any sane person would first try to find a video of him playing it. Then some tab (usually wrong) and use the tools you have to learn this finally against just the audio.
So much fun ????
I love that Ian asks questions to help the viewer understand, even though most of the things he and Sharon know anyway. Good teacher. Also, I feel like Sharon dumbs her skills down a bit on some of these but it probably makes most of us feel better watching her struggle a bit.
The main riff when the band kicks in is not played with an open string! It’s all fretted on the E string and A strings. Way harder, but less whimpy sounding. 🙂
I love her approach. She's really REALLY good.
I love this series. The struggle is so relatable. And the talent is unreal. It would take me weeks to get this intro right
I was expecting her to play the whole song ha ha ha……
took me 5 minutes to learn bruh
I thought singing it is how everyone does. Hm.
Could be worse could be Dance of Eternity
Myung plays this riff with 3 fingers. It can give you much easier way for the picking since the rythem suits it.
She played 2 Bass guitars, He held one 🙂
He’s blasting triplets, BTW. Work on using more than 2 fingers with the picking fingers.
learn cannibal corpse lines!!!
Intro sounds like TOOL
I am just in love with Sharon ???? her personality!! And the way she is is so cute to me ❤ I could listen you playing the whole day ????????????
It's not that difficult when you are at that level of playing, and for sure not that complicated. One of my favourite fast rythm tracks for guitar and bass , advanced and technical , dream theater at their best, but not that extreme to learn for sure.
Please make Sharon try domination by symphony x, she's a amazing bassist and funny one ????
The key to Myung’s tone is the string action. He’s heavy on his plucking therefore his strings are set REALLY high. Just rips it. Some strings will buzz but that’s the part of his tone on this intro. Brilliant job!
