tbf to have the yammy only increaase by 20 quid over 7 years makes it suoer attractive
I came here for the bass comparison but stayed for great playing
Do you guys know how a Cort B5 would compare to these? I’m shopping atm…
This vid needs a 2024 update
That particular ibenez sucks
Out of all the basses in the price range, the Yamaha is DEFINITELY the one to beat–they rival basses that are double their price. And, I love that they fall within the Stingray sound (which is my preferred bass sound), but is much more comfortable to play. I'm a guitarist who loves to jam on bass sometimes, and with a lot of MMs, the necks on their 5 strings make me feel like I'm really stretching and it's uncomfortable to play over long periods. The Yamaha makes the transition less awkward. GENERALLY, I prefer Ibanez for their SRMS and BTB stuff, but those are 900-1500 basses and they seem to be CONSTANTLY out of stock.
Maaaan, the Yamaha and the SUB series just KILLED! Pretty versatile, amazing tone, not expensive and beautiful looking! I tested the TRBX in a store and I just fall in love. Light, comfortable, big and full tone, just amazing!
For me:
1:Yamaha TRBX 305
2:Sterling SUB series
3:Squier Jazz Bass
(.. small hiatus ..)
4:Ibanez SR305E
(.. another hiatus, but longer ..)
5:Jackson Omen5
As someone who has a Ray35, I'd go Yamaha or Ibanez on this. Wish I knew that before I bought the Ray35. It absolutely disappears in a mix and that's kinda depressing lol I just want those Bartolinis!
Tonally and looks wise, I preferred the Musicman/Sterling Ray5 over the others, but I've heard others mention that the string spacing is a little on the crowded side.
Good old days when i could buy an sr505 for what I can an sr300 now 😀
I'm about to buy one of these guys…. please help me decide ..
My confusion is between the Yamaha TRBX 305 and Musicman Sterling Sub Ray 5.
This topic needs a 2023 version…with 'both' of you testing out the entire line up of bases
now we needs this in 2023 edition
Ibanes sr305eb
8:34 They start playing the Basses 😀
i always love when they diddle each other's dials. by love, i mean creeped out by how vaguely lewd it looks. those devious dial diddlers
How many times can one man say "yeah", within sixty seconds?! Goodness!!
what about the quality feel of the wood and craft? besides the sound.
That Ibanez is a tone machine.
Would be cool to review left hand affordable basses availability as well as what’s the best option for a southpaw, since almost all manufacturers severely limit left hand options at all levels
I love Best 5 Strings ❤????❤️????
Needs a 2023 update
This needs a 2022 update!
all sounds like crap
For me, soundwise, the Jackson rocks it, but I'm not that much of a jazz player as I am a Metalhead

Just ordered that TRBX305 in Mist Green. I can't wait to get my hands on it.
Splendid review! I have owned an RBX375, the predecessor of that Yamaha, for 16 years now. The build quality and playability of that bass (despite its thick neck profile) are probably unmatched at its price range. Understandably won the battle here despite being the cheapest.
YAMAHA YAMAHA YAMAHA
Please please make an update video! Budget 5 String 2022!
que desconfortavel , o baixo no colo de um com o outro mexendo, e troca troca, que bizarro
why do guitar/bass companies keep doing these shitty headstocks. Like Gibson with their tilted headstock, jackson with their angled strings, fender with their piece of metal that holds the strings lower before their go to the nut. I think the japanese brands are the only ones getting it right, because they are not stuck in the 1960s
I would take the Yamaha
I like the YAMAHA better
