was hoping you'd demo each one. ????
what is an acceptable bass on a Martin jr acoustic bass please?
I need a sound hole pickup for an acoustic bass. Any have a suggestion.
So.. you're rating them based on looks? Not a word about the sound.. whatever..
Hi. Thanks for the great video. If you are interested in a louder, compact acoustic bass, please check out the TurboBass.
I am a old guitar player who knows nothing about basses and have decided to start playing bass. My local music shop just got in an Ibanez AEGB24E and the bigger and more expensive Morgan AB20 SSE-R. Do you have any advice, opinion or recommendations on those?
Hi BassPlayerMom I was wondering if there are any significant diferences in the sound and characteristics between a Fender 450CE and a Kingsman V2?
My first acoustic electric bass was a Martin B1. I LOVE the sound and playability, and I've owned it for many years. The only problem is that I've had to take it to the luthier several times to address problems where the neck joint started to collapse. The best image is string tension folding the bass from the head stock towards the bridge right where the neck meets the body. It wasn't dramatic as that might sound, but it was enough that I'd have to fully detune the strings and put the bass out of commission until I could get it fixed. I eventually shelved the bass for fear of total collapse. Anyway… several years later I stumbled on a Dean EABC while purchasing ukulele strings at a local guitar center. I was talking to another customer and telling them about my Martin, and I picked up the Dean EABC hanging on the wall to show them the issue. Anyway, I gragged it right at the neck/body joint, and my immediate reaction was that the joint was SOLID. I played the bass quite a bit while talking to the other customer, and I eventually went home with it. It was very inexpensive ($300?) compared to the Martin, and it was setup very well. The intonation was perfect and the frets were dressed and clean. That's what I play to this day… and you can see several videos of it on my YouTube channel. I highly recommend it.
Convinced me to get one
The breedlove acoustic bass guitars, with flatwound strings. Their highest end model comes with a hardshell case.
It also has fishmans top of the line electronics.
I own the black Fender Kingman V2, its an awesome bass, the jazz neck it lovely, I play it more than all my other basses as its so easy to just pick up and play! I wrote my band's whole 2nd album on this bass just sitting on my sofa with my singer.
How can you rate a bass without having it?
Ridiculous.
Sa-pay-lay. And Sweetwater is the real deal for honesty, customer service, and price. I’ve used them for years. They send candy with your purchase.
Acoustic basses are borderline useless, in my opinion. Other than for quiet practice(I learn all new songs on my cheap Washburn acoustic bass), I wouldn't waste any money on one unless you're cool with not being heard. If you look at most unplugged performances, the bass player still uses an electric bass( I know, I know, the Alice in Chains one……)and it mixes perfectly with acoustic electric 6 strings etc.
my main thing with an abg is unplugged volume and tone. so far nothing I have played can match my Tacoma, which I have been playing for nearly twenty years. that being said I am going to buy a second acoustic bass because I am tired of changing strings from phosphor bronze to flats. probably some sort of Ibanez. love your channel, subscribed.
Ibanez AEGB24E.. Check it out
I believe its pronounced Sa-pay-lay
Whats its the difference between Abg vs hollow (F)?
Well, since you asked… although it's not on Sweetwater (direct from the manufacturer only) and is almost 10 times the cost of the Ibanez, my aspirational acoustic-electric bass is the Emerald Guitars Balor Bass. It's a gorgeous and brilliantly engineered carbon fiber monster that is actually loud enough to play acoustically with other instruments.
Good choices. I own an Ibenez, (not that one)…like the neck a lot. Had I chosen to spend more, though, i would have gone for the Fender Kingman. Martin is awesome! Good choices. Sweetwater… I'm a fan. I just yesterday received a new 5 string bass from them via online order. Letting it acclimate after 5 days on a truck in cold weather. Looks terrific. Zero shipping damage. Will do truss rod adjustment tomorrow and full set up. I bought my 4 string (Fender J) on a visit to their store in Fort Wayne. Hope that helps!
How are you! Welcome to 2024! Haven’t Talked To You in so long
Thanks! ????????
I have a full scale Tanglewood great tone with deep bout . I will be getting a Fender Kingsman mainly due to the shortscale, which is easier to play and perform at small gigs. The headstock is a plus for aesthetics. I am also minded to consider the Warwick Alien thinline 32" but is a bit dearer!
