Best Amp For Pedal Lovers… But Why? | REVV Dynamis 7/40 | Gear Corner

#guitaramps #revvamps
Not every guitar amp sounds good with overdrive pedals. This one though… It’s on another level.
I love overdrives and fuzzes and there’s a very good reason for using this Revv Dynamis head.
Enjoy the video!

** Why the “Includes paid promotion” message? **
According to german laws everyone has to mark their videos as advertisements as soon as there’s a single “subject relevant” product, tag or link in it. Even if you didn’t get paid for making that video. Sounds confusing and it really doesn’t help the viewer to see which is a paid review and which isn’t.
— The line of truth: Is this actually a paid review? No it isn’t but I have affiliate links in the description box. (I update this line for every video).

  • Question for all owners of this amp, how's the headroom on the clean channel? I need an amp that retains "glassy cleans" at gig volumes, does it stay clean at louder volumes or does it break up fairly early?

  • Weird innit? I started to look at this Amp online only today and I watched a couple of 'Reviews'? I had seen the 'REVV' logo … somewhere before? Then I came across this video. The light went on! "That's where I've seen it!" (I said to myself). Now I get it Kris! It is a 'Love Story' which you (initially) didn't wish to share – less we all get jealous? I'm jealous Kris.

  • I bought my seafoam green dynamis (discontinued) combo years ago, oddly, it shows up on some online stores for sale still LOL
Each time I play it, it sounds better, I have played more than 40 guitars through it and counting.
The thing that surprises me is that every type of pickup, weak or powerful, sweet or edgy and every scale length, hollow, semi or solid construction
gets to shine with it's own colors and characters.
I still haven't figured out how the programmable side of the footswitch remembers the settings you program, the pots aren't motorized, I guess it's Revv's well kept secret..

  • Hi Kris! Great video as usual 🙂 I own a Dynamis head and unlike you i usually use the drive channel for gain. I urge you to push it, the Dynamis can produce very nice gain. It has replaced most of my pedals. I guess my humbuckers are on the hotter side, when the Dynamis is set to red (channel, dynamics and contour) it gets a lot close to hi-gain than just a rock-tone, at least to my ears. When it comes to gain the result is the same if i use a low wattage driver like the 1×12 G12S Blackback or 2×12 EVM12L, of course different speakers produce different eq/tone. Still whichever speaker I choose last in the signalchain the drive is always great.

  • Hey Kris, thank you for the overview. I wonder, if you use your amp clean (so the preamp section never breaks up, which means it does not compress your sound) and it does not color sound either, how does it differ from plug your pedalboard directly to the power amp? Some compression can happen in the power amp section if you use high volume, of course, but this will be similar for most amps which use the same tube type that are biased similarly.

  • Hi Krisz!
Do you have experience about how the clean channel of the Revv Dynamis compares to the Revv D20? What would be the biggest difference?

  • Definitely a beast. Fell in love with it watching your channel, will probably end up getting one someday! Cheers, buddy!

  • there are several (small and often unknown) amp builders out there who are able to build amps that have literally almost nothing in common with what most people would call good amps like the industrially produced marshalls, fenders, boogies, ect ect.
Everyone who has ever played such an amp will never forget the difference in dynamics ,overtones and versetility and expression. And such an amp might bring a life long search of THE tone to an end.

  • I wish i could afford this amp. Sounds phenomenal. The D20 is more in my price range. Is the D20 more or less the slimmed down, smaller version to the Dynamis?

  • Hi Kris! Great and super useful video, as always, been looking forward to getting a Revv’s amp myself. Would you say they all “share” these awesome clean channel features? I’d go for a more budget friendly D20/G20

  • Hi Kris,
I wonder what you think is the core of your tone: amp, guitar, pedals, playing? Because I think you have a very recognizable style/tone.
    Cheers, Max
