  • Suppossed to have tuning issues (have one) is that down to the trem itself apparently floyd specials are made of crap metals, i know on kramers they use floyd rose originals which are reliable but if you cat afford the 400 + there the schaller lockmiester 6 for half the price but made with steel in germany to a high quality, if this sorts the tuning i would not have an issue doing this, but if its a guitar fault i dont want to waste the cash not sure on the issue fix

  • If you know how to do a setup with 10 gage strings, trem & truss rod, it WON'T go out of tune. I play Dimebage divebombs with it and stays in tune every single time.

  • I just purchased one from a 3rd party and interestingly it plays quite well, though it was missing the tremolo bar, which is fine. I put new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's on and so far it's stayed in tune quite well. I am curious though what the active electronics actually do. Does anyone know? I plugged it into my Marshall and it just roared. Then I tried it in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and after some tweaking with contour and tone, it sounded great. Always wanted a V so this completes that part of the collection. Definitely happy with it.

  • That looks like a high-end very expensive Jackson V but for the price they're almost giving it away when you really think about it and when you start to really dive into all of this and all the points and stuff that cosmetic stuff is nothing that is a perfect are especially with what you're doing you're doing metal that screams metal I'm sorry that's the screens you're a badass and any any guitar player don't care what level you are knows if that's a cool guitar in my collection the road or doing a video or anything yeah I definitely want to have this guitar it is stunning

  • I have a guy that could take care of those problems that you pointed out with ease and you would never know any of it and Flawless he's pretty good he's been doing it for a long time the man is like an expert on fixing that so I would never have problems with it definitely going to pick this up I'm going to have to track it down and stuff but like I said you could spend billions of dollars on a very expensive Gibson V or a Les Paul or what other brands and you know what this is a good price I mean they're just basically giving it away I mean honestly

  • Brother, i have to tell you that the Floyd Rose Special is not really a "proper" floyd. That floyd is "ok" when new, but wont last mutch… I think the Floyd Special is the only dawnside of that guitar and other x series guitars.
    Cheers from Portugal ????????????????

  • I recently bought another really similar X series Jackson (the Rhoads with yellow bevels). I also had the issue with the FR not staying in tune at all, but then It turned out the intonation screws holding the saddles in place were not tightened enough and some saddles were moving around. Tightening the screws fixed the issue. I will still be replacing the FR special with a Schaller soon, along with the tuners (I don't like gold hardware).

Also, on cheap guitars like these, I think you will have much less issues with fretwork if the fretboard has a binding. Most of the complaints about fretwork I've seen have been on guitars without binding.

  • Bro buy a tuner and tune your damn guitars before you do videos and then by yourself a paintbrush and brush off all the nasty hair and dust off your guitar before making a video. Just saying makes it kind of hard to watch and listen to.

  • Ahoy! I ordered one of these the other day and it arrived damaged, so I had to return. Upon looking to reorder another I saw the KV (not the XMG) for a few hundred £ more. The only real differences I noticed were the KV has "Seymour Duncan Distortion TB-6 humbucking bridge and Seymour Duncan Distortion SH-6N humbucking neck pickups" along with the Floyd Rose 1000.

Do you think the KVXMG for £639 is better value than the KV for £899 or worth splashing a bit more for the KV. I don't gig right now, just use the guitar for home fun and recording atm but might return. My main genres to mess around with atm would be mostly heavy thrashy stuff. Thanks for the videos.

  • Something really wrong happened since Covid. I'm seeing this guitar on Amazon Canada & it is 1,239$ + taxes. I bought an ESP-LTD ALX V600 SE Pinky used, but in pristine condition for 1,500$ 2 years ago. There is a chasm in terms of specs between the two guitars. I don't know if the prices will come down, but I would not buy a Jackson V or RR with a Floyd Rose Special on it. Buying a proper FR is 500$, so the the guitar is suddenly clocking near the 2,000$ mark. It is clearly not worth that much.

  • King v is the best V in my opinion no neck dick slim necks good value for money I did have one of the old black trivium ones that was bad super sharp frets was pissed at that ????

  • weird, even my cheap JS32 dinky (crappy licensed Floyd Rose) can still keep in tune really well

  • My guitar stays in tune no problems if set up properly dive bombs and all u should not have any problems with staying in tune I might have got a good one because mine doesn’t have any fret roughness or tool marks on the neck

  • This guitar seems to hit that sweet spot between quality and willingness to drag it anywhere and play the shit out of it. Really high end guitars are great, but anyone who is gigging a lot will know that it won't take long for that wear and tear to start to show up on an instrument (unless of course you have a dedicated tech and team of rodies!). But for the rest of us, an on stage every night guitar needs to be something you can love and trust, but also something that can take a beating and you don't really care. So slight paint imperfections just become part of the character, along with the scrapes and nicks and stress marks and everything else. A good guitar will show it's age, just like us people, even when it's well loved and taken care of. Sure, I have some really expensive high end guitars, but those never leave the studio.

  • Nice review, bought this guitar over 2 years ago, think it was just released. Feel in love with the look of it. Mine came in nearly perfect condition, some minor paint issues in the cavities and one of the inlays higher up the neck isn’t as sharp looking. Mostly use it for rhythm so the bridge isn’t an issue for me.

  • Sweet video! I fell in love with Jackson guitars recently but it's a shame that the X series guitars QC is all over the place. I think some models are worth it only if you want to have the neck through construction. Now having a few X series guitars, the quality of the hardware is a straight up gamble. I hate to say it but the cheaper JS Jackson's I've had have been more consistent, as far as playability, feel, and QC. You'll still have to probably upgrade parts but at least you know what you're getting. The X series having most of the same parts, but not being consistent is my biggest grip with Jackson at the moment. For me what sets Jackson's apart from other guitars, is the feel of the guitar when you play and the body shapes. I do understand that QC issues across many companies is very common post Coivd times but hopefully it all gets better over all. Since I do love Jackson guitars but QC issues hurt every aspect of the industry.

  • Bit of a trade off between quality and price. I played one in a store and liked it for the money. It's a great price to upgrade some parts if it was gonna be kept and played for a while. I think the higher end Floyds function better and stay in better tune. Better parts and material.

  • I just bought this guitar, got it delivered last week. It was brand new and boxed so I had to take it for a setup since they didn't set it up since it left the factory and European distribution centre but now it is ready to blaze.
Such a beautiful green guitar with such a magnificent sound and comfortable to play. It is certainly lighter than my other Flying V which is a Dean Razorback V (that is a set neck guitar built out of mahogany so it weighs a tonne). You certainly can't go wrong with a pair of EMG's.
Sadly I have found that issue as well with the Floyd, it just doesn't really stay in tune. I've had to unclamp the strings at the nut and tune with the machine heads every time I want to play with it (that's a hardwired habit after some years of playing, I do it with my Ibanez axes with Edge Pros etc)
I enjoyed your review though and you made me aware of other potential issues although they are relatively minimal.

  • I have been GAS’ing so hard for a Jackson King V. I know black is boring, especially after this beauty of a guitar, but did you consider (or are you now considering) the Jackson Pro Series King KV? It’s about $100 more than this, with a Floyd 1000 and Seymour Duncan pickups.

  • I have 4 Indonesian axes: 2 solar A-series, an LTD ec-1000 and a schecter KM-6 mk-iii, and the build quality on all 4 is well above-average…not perfect, but superior to PRC factories or Gibson USA. I've made electronics/hardware upgrades on all 4….as I do with all of my axes, and they all meet the mark for stage & studio use for heavy thrash metal. For the woods/finish/features selection from instruments made in either the WMIC or Cort factories in Jakarta, these axes are an incredible value…and for small added cost they can be upgraded to rival a handmade custom build instrument…I switch off between them all the time and have not been let down.

  • The tone pot is easy to fix: Open the back cavity, get a 10mm socket bit (no need for the wrench), hold the pot with one hand, and then hand tighten with the other.

Of course, that is if it has a locking washer.
