  • Hi everyone! Thanks for joining in on the live premiere for my 8th annual Best and Worst Guitar Gear of 2024. I forgot to add in one item in editing which was the Nova Go-Sonic electric. It was a unique and interesting guitar which was supposed to be in the final video! The video chapters, links, and videos referenced are in the description. Thanks again for all of the support, you rock!

  • I don’t think I’ve gotten a bad piece of gear in the year ‘24 , only not as good as the great pieces but still good stuff,be it amps ,guitars , pedals and related gear

  • I think G&L was the company that came up with that bass contour, Leo Fender came up with the PBT system, one of the coolest things about G&L, really opens up the tonal possibilities of an instrument having a HPF and LPF!

  • I've always liked the Peavey Classic series. Esp the 30, and the Delta Blues 2×10. They sound great, and are damned affordable for how good they are. Love the trem on the DB!! I actually use the classic 30 as an "index"amp when i try guitars. Most everyone has one in the store. If not, its either. Blues Deluxe, or a Supersonic 60. All three get me what i want, soundwise, pretty much by default.

  • love your shirt, Shane. Watching this from my house in Delray! Keep up the great work in 2025!

  • Hi Shane, Merry Christmas for tomorrow AU????
My favourite piece of gear for 2024 is a second hand Fractal Axe FX II XL, in great condition for around an AU Gorilla.
Think it's all I will ever need now considering what it has to offer.

  • My best and worst gear purchase was….an Artist tweed tone20r (!?!). I got a faulty one and for a number of reasons it was a royal PITA to return and get a replacement. After this escalated a bit ip the chain, they were able to take care of it properly and promptly and this went from the worst purchase to the best as the replacement amp is pretty damn good and it meets all my lofty expectations after watching all these videos reviewing them for literally years now..

  • I just got my six gun this year too and it’s been my favorite purchase. I always find myself going to that guitar over some of my other more “premium” guitars

  • One trick I found with the Blackstar ISF amps is to use the ISF and mid controls together. The mid doesn't do much alone, because the ISF is working in the same range. IiRC Blackstar suggest setting the ISF first, but often the mid then doesn't work much, so better to use them together. I tried a Kemper, but the display is dim, small font and the GUI bad. There are much better profilers available now, if you don't already have a Kemper.

  • I feel exactly the same about Fender and Gibson , they are the just milking the cash cows the ones wo pioneered the saga should'nt just be stuck with nostalgia and try something brave and disrupter.

  • The PRS SE was the years biggest disappointment for me….because its so damn good. I’m such a fender fanboy I actually caught ill feelings when I played it….i side by sided 6 strats at a store recently. A few fender players, a player 2, the Tom morello signature, a strat ultra a strat vintage 2 and the prs. Honestly loved the silver sky. Not as much as the Vintage 2 but more than the rest.

  • VOX Brian may amplug was my 1st ever amp it had cool delays and treble boost so loved it now sold it and got a solid state amp and 500USD worth of pedals along with it to make the solid state sing .

  • Aw Maaaaan! ???? Here I was leisurely watching the video, with a JagStang in my lap…….???? I actually love it! So much so, that I thought about getting the blue one in addition to the fiesta red I already have! It just feels good in my hands, and I really like the pickups! I’m not a performer, and have no desire to be, but I can see how its quirky setup would take some getting used to. But, don’t hate it cause it’s beautiful man! ???? It really grows on you after a while! I‘ve got 22(?) guitars, and that Jagstang is in the top five! Still waiting on Fender to make a left handed Mustang! Until then, I’m keeping the JagStang!

    I totally agree.
It makes me wonder how many hundreds of thousands of guitars that are souring in warehouses and storage, all over the world.
They release the same new guitars, every year, and I’ve seen the same ones in shops for 25 years, or more.
I know they don’t sell. Where do all these guitars go?
I found my main guitar, which is a 98’ American Standard, all stock. I found it in the back of a local shop. He likely had it for a decade.
It looked brand new, except it had been setup onetime in the past.
The moment I held it, I knew it was special. I found it, when helping a friend find a guitar.
He bought it and several other things. The shop owner knew us, and he’d do things cheaper for cash. So, he got it for $700, back in 2010. He sold it to me the next year, before I moved away to a different city, a year later.
I’ve worn the frets down to the point I need to refret it.
I asked bigger shops, and many send back hundreds of guitars every year.
Fender likely has a huge warehouse of guitars going back to the 80’s that never got played.

  • The Peavey Classic 30 was my first amp.

In the states, they were the “bogan” amps

    Did I get that right?

We called them the “Mississippi Marshall’s”

    Fantastic Amps

Listen with your ears, not your eyes.

  • About the OD-3. That’s a pedal I honestly didn’t know about. Found one in a box at the bands warehouse I work for and now I keep seeing it pop up. And yes! It’s freaking awesome!!

  • About the new strats. Yeah. If you have one you’re good. I do have a few but they are all different but if you just need a strat sound all you need is one.

  • Man, there is a teal stripe bandit 112 at one of our local pawnshops it could use a good cleaning, but other than that, it is damn near perfect condition, and it's only $115 .I could probably talk them down to$80 .if I was to buy it, I'd have to change out that crap sounding stock speaker.

  • I recently tried the Boss katana and for me, it was probably the best digital non-tube amp I have ever tried. Good useable tones, neat effects, great tones, easy to use, loud but can be turned down from 50w to .5w. Perfect for playing at a quiet volume with good tonality, drive etc. It’s relatively light to carry in a neat combo format. Ideal for home use. They are the best value for money I can think of. Why weren’t they around 40 years ago? I’m an amp snob perhaps and have always leant to Boogie and Fender tube amps but the Boss is exceptional and affordable. I’m not aware of the earlier versions of the katana, so the 3rd version may not offer much more but that tells me that they must be good too.

  • LOL, when I was a kid in the 80s, it seemed like 3/5 guitar players had a Peavy Bandit.

  • I'd love to own a Reverend guitar, but I'm really stuck in the Fender, Gibson, PRS mode. I also own a Charvel, a Jackson, Ibanez, Epiphone, Chapman, and a Crimson custom guitar. So owning another guitar by another company would cause a divorce!

  • Reverend guitars just don't look great. The headstock is not pleasing and the body is a messed up fender. They may sound great but do I look at it and say I want one? No.

  • Ladies & gentlemen. All we need is fingers, desire, drove and a love for music. Music brings joy, joy is satisfying. Relax , love the privilege God allows.

  • I don't look at Reverend for a superficial, but important reason. I don't like cheap looking dot markers on the fretboard. I also find bound necks are more comfortable, with less fret sprout issues, etc.. I see they are finally moving in that direction with their hollow bodies, which look great, so maybe in my future.
