Big Baby Taylor Review- Buy This Guitar

Here is a quick review of my Big Baby Taylor. (BBTE). Bottom line is that I love this guitar and I’m not sure you can get anything better for this price point.

The Big Baby Taylor has Taylor quality but won’t empty your bank account.

The Gear I’m using:
Guitar (Big Baby Taylor)

Capo (Kyser Quick Change)

Guitar Strings (Elixir)

*I do get paid a small amount if you use the link, but it does not alter your cost at all. Thank you.

If you’re in the market for a guitar I would highly recommend this one if it fits you’re budget and your criteria.

  • ⚓️???? I picked up one nicely set up by a luthier. It is a 2009. I have two dreadnoughts but I just love the Big Baby so much fun for learning and general enjoyment. It has sort of a belly in in the back and that is all Taylor inspired. The sound seems almost conical because the little belly built into the wood. The neck shape seems a little rounder and easier to play high note strings. Nice review .. nice guitar.

  • Bought one yesterday, not new to guitar but just started playing acoustic and was playing on a Epiphone by Gibson that was a beater, sound wasn't great but I played it and learned some stuff. Bought a Taylor Big Baby yesterday and I absolutely love it. It sounds so good it makes you want to play it more and its easier for me to play as a beginner.

  • I think most guitarists fall into two camps: those who love a crisp and bright sound or those who love a deeper warmer tone.

If you fall into the former camp, you’re going to love the Big Baby.

I got my big baby two weeks ago and love it. Despite being smaller than a full size dreadnought, it is quite loud.

It honestly sounds better than some of the thousand dollar Taylors.

You’d have to get a $2,500+ Taylor to get a better sounding guitar IMO.

  • Awesome demonstration, thank you. Which strings do you use or have on this Big Baby guitar? My thought is to change it to 12g to bring it down a bit.

  • Had my Big Baby for 8 years now and gets better with age, one of the best travel guitars you can buy!

  • Hi. You might know. I bought the Taylor Big Baby Acoustic/Electric. 2 questions. What do you think about this guitar and also it says it’s slightly smaller than a full size acoustic. What exactly is smaller. Thank you.

  • A really good guitar for it's price range. I've had mine since somewhere in the range of 2007-8. After that amount of time, the lack of finish and binding has shown, and the guitar has its scratches and ware, and the top is separating form the body at a spot. But it was my first acoustic and it sounds great. It's time for an upgrade for me, though.

    edit: It's a 2006.

  • After owning the same 80euro non-branded acoustic guitar for 15 years,
and since i only know how to play chords (sadly never actually tried to learn something new, all those years in vein!)
i decided to start learning fingerstyle, and i will get to myself the Taylor Big Baby 😀

  • Absolutely love mine, it is about the most perfectly balanced acoustic on the market, I keep it by my bed actually. Surprisingly sounds good with Elixirs but if you really want to make this thing perform some John Pearse 80/20 SLs add incredible tone to it!

  • Nice man. Does the top have a little bit of a gloss on there? Couldn't tell on the video. I know the sides and back are saying finish with no gloss but the top looks like it may have a light gloss in there

  • Approx 20 years ago, I walked by a guitar shop and like most guitar players I know, I strolled in with no intention of purchasing anything, ha ha! At the time I owned a beautiful 6 string Takamine for over 15 years. I really liked it but I made the ‘mistake’ of picking up a Big Baby Taylor. My first strum killed my love for my Takamine! I was floored. I could not believe the tone, the feel, the sound that came out of that little guitar. I bought it the spot. I now own three Taylor’s, my Big Baby, 416ce and a 12 string Taylor 312. But my Big Baby is my first love! I’ve played it in huge Church auditorium and it rocked!

  • I have a 2006, no electronics. I just bought it and even at 15 years old, it plays so beautifully. I'm a small lady so I love the size.
