Did this video help you? I'd love to hear from you. These videos are made for you!
That sounds terrible?
Good suggestions
It sounds good to me with everything at 12
Cut out the d4 d5 diodes and its an excellent pedal
It also sounds terrible in Digitech, Zoom etc multipedals. The tone knob is the key
So what do I put my amp setting to
80 dollar pedal, 500 dollar amp
Its always playing it on the clean of a marshall and turning up the leval to 7 for a clean breakup and then turning down the tone on the pedal to kill harshness and tweak everything else from there.
I had mine perfectly set, then I bought a pedal board and changed the settings…and it sounded dreadful. Thanks for this video!
Low output guitar pickup ..
Turn the level full, tone at minimum..
Gain up to your taste .
Boom !!!
That's the best distortion ever made
I play punk rock so I kinda like the initial tone it’s horrible and I love it????
Two minutes to say turn the tone knob down. That sucked.
Putting the tone at 10 would normally make it unusable. It sounds decent this way.
You’ve got to know how to use it….like anything else
everything at 12 is such a dirty sound. I respectfully disagree that it sounds terrible.
Nice JS! Haven't seen a 22-fret one in a long time
Awsome Steve! However I ve seen some videos which steve vai said he rather doing that with a overdrive pedal instead of the ds1 – He said he uses the clean tone ! Do you think a tube amp should be full clean ? Kind regards

Hi steve, connect DS 1 to dirty channel, is it similar to stack DS1 to overdrive pedal into clean amp channel?
I bought the ds1 40th anniversary pedal a few years back and being somewhat of a pedal beginner, i sold it very shortly after being it. Watching this video seriously makes me regret that decision…
I'm using the orange crush 12 amp. Yet no matter how much I mess with the amp and the pedal it still sounds terrible
I had one used it through a clean transistor amp, it sounded ok but it had no head room at all, you stamp on your pedal for that face melting blistering solo and it wimps out and hides behind the drummer! Now my mates mxr distortion+ would stand right in front of the singer, I was told they were designed to be used with an already clipping valve amp, you have to use them right I suppose
