  • Thank god the tone king iron man II is still going used for close to retail on reverb. I’ll be listing it as soon as I get this boss.. lol

  • I’ll pay $1,000 to every musician on earth and beyond if the software works HALF decent. I know roland too well.

  • What an excellent demonstration by John. Very informative but still kept it simple so even I totally understood what was going on. Great job.

  • So cool seeing Austin. I met him years ago at a Boss demo in Maryland. Peace, young man.

  • Hello, thanks for the video, i got a quite dumb question but what means the fact that it's "only" 30 watts output ? i am thinking to switch from torpedo X to that, but 30w may be not enough for concert or reharsle ? Or am i mistaken ? i connect the Torpedo to the mix table that is connected to the FOH.
    Thanks a lot 🙂

  • Well this was incredibly underwhelming ???? I expected more from Boss. Nothing here tops what my two notes torpedo already did years ago. 100 watts. Great. So I can’t use my 120 watt mesa or peavey. Awesome. Oh boy can’t wait to drill into a guitar for a goddamn pedal.

  • ah so changing tuning WITHIN an octave, so maybe VG800 is no good for adding a bass channel to my guitar's output.

  • Really wanting Boss to pull their finger out and release a new Katana Go. Utter farce with first one and Fender have taken advantage with the new Micro Plus.

  • I find using a antinuator/ load box you lose a lot of the top end compared to plugging start in to your tube amp.

  • ‘Absolutely’ Counter over here. ????

I still don’t see bedroom guitarist collect a lot of 100watt amps to play them through digital rooms in their head phones in 2025 when you get so much good simulations and profilers. Even when Lee likes the IR’s more. What makes total sense because the real things like volume too. I still like this kind of tools for studio and on stage. I mean absolutely.

  • Re: the VG-800, all the that is in the GR55. All of it. You have to now buy 2 units to get what is available in the old unit. The only thing that is improved is the lack of 13 pin cable. I assume the tracking is better too but I don't know. I have the old pickup installed in a PRS CU24. To replace it with the new pickup requires a rout so big I'll get neck droop. I SO wanted one of these new units but it isn't a simple decision.

  • A little more time with the VG800 would have been nice. I guess we'll have to wait for the release demo video when it comes out.

  • Sounds like a more refined / complicated Captor X.
Love Boss and hope this drives more similar innovation from Two Notes and others because the Captor X and app really turned my tube amp into a monster.
If they could now capture the amp so that we could leave the amp at home / in the studio and take the Boss / Two notes box alone for gigs ????????

  • the boss expander is a game changer ! what a comfy device for switching different tones thru your tube amps without compromising that much of the quality! with my own IR's there's gonna be little to no difference to mic my amps in the normal way without the hassle

  • I would enjoy seeing several deep dives of the VG 800, with multiple videos being categorized by music Genre.

  • ohh! I wonder if this could be used as a power amp for a modeler (say Tonex) and user a normal guitar cab? If so, I can see this being comparable to the Fryette PS-2

    Reply
  • Yeah, they show it here but it will be a year before it's available. It took a year for the Boss IR-2 to become widely available. Don't really care about a product that isn't available yet.

  • 14:00 so you’re telling me, in order to use the awesome tuning changing feature of this pedal, which is perfect for me, I’d have to install a whole pickup system and modify my whole guitar?? Nah I’m good, bro I’d rather stick with the drop tune pedal.

  • I’ve been in the loadbox quest lately, and after checking them all, for what I WANT and NEED, I came to this shortlist: 1) St Rock React IR II, 2) Fryette PS2 and 3) UA Loadbox. So I went for the St Rock because it does fit what I want (YMMV, to each his own). However, if I had to redo my choice today, I think I would consider this Boss Expander Core… it would definitely go before the UA Loadbox (for the size, price, effect loop), so it would definitely be in the top 3. Not sure if it would end up first, I’m really settle for the St Rock now, but that’s a great new product. Congrats Boss. PS: nice amps and guitar for the demo

  • Big fan of Boss , I still use my Boss GT 1000 in a stereo rig , still haven't found anything for this price that sounds as good and as versatile.

  • Love BOSS! Not only do I have a coupleof pedals, but my two main amps for playing electric are my little katana mini that I use around the house, and a BOSS IR2 that I run straight into a PA. They both sound great!
