Building 5 Tones on the Boss GX-100 Touchscreen Guitar FX Processor

Boss have joined the touchscreen revolution with their new GX-100 amp modelling and effects processor! In this video, Tyler takes it for a spin and builds 5 different tones with the fantastic drag’n’drop interface. The GX-100 uses their flagship AIRD modelling system, simulating the amp and cab as a complete system rather than separately.

Time Stamps:
01:09 Tone 1: Hot Blues
03:37 Tone 2: Ambient Bliss
06:09 Tone 3: 80s Shredder
08:36 Tone 4: Classic Crunch
10:16 Tone 5: Fuzz Riff Lord

  • Just what the Doctor ordered, thanks! Presume you were running this into an audio interface? Could you share which one. Or was it via USB.

  • Hi Ti…. first, thanks a lot for your videos ! I'd like a little help : I cover Deep Purple's HIGHWAY STAR with my band. I'm trying to find a way to get the right harmonization for the (2nd solo), but there's always a wrong note : it's important to notice that we play detuned (Eb Ab,…etc); so instead of G we play it Gb ….can you help me find the solution ? Thanks a lot

  • Sensational demo and how to DIY tones on the GX-100. Best demo and simple how to I have seen on the internet. You managed to make it look so easy to build tones. I went out and bought one of these and am loving it. Even managed a guitar/organ tone for Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds with the Overtone, Phaser and Reverb effects.

  • Drive sound Seems more "Digital" and less "amp like" on My ears respect of othet stuff (helix, headrush).. . What's your experience?

  • Absolutely love mine. Had it at least a month if not more. Once you get into the menus and deeper in it is a very powerful unit. If I have any criticism there is not an option to make it a bit more analog. You can with a bit of tinkering but the sound is very clean and clinical. Sounds great, I love it but if you are wanting old school analog "warm" it is there but you need to do a fair bit of tweaking.

  • None of the pros yes these .so only the bedroom guys. And yet they just keep getting harder and harder to operate. And still nothing to a valve amp .maybe another 10 years

  • This is hands down the best tone building video I have "seen" so far.

Clean, simple and and shows the work flow really well.

I am legally blind and with the Limited vision I have left color and things extremely zoom extremely zoom in are are visible. I think the boss GX 100 with with its simple UI and touch screen as well as the phthe familiar color We'll be the 1st Modeling pedal I Will use since I have lost my sight.

Thank you for producing such such a fantastic video. I appreciate you appreciate you so much.

  • Pros: Easy to use, touch screen, decent sounds. Cons: need to demo a lot more clean sounds. All gained sounds were noisy!!!

  • Not overly impressed. I was prepared to be "blown away", but, meh. To me the tones all sounded harsh and unpleasant, which seems to be a thing with BOSS' AIRD tech.

To my ears, my Gen 1 Katana sounds better, and there's absolutely no comparison to my Bugera 333XL as far as pure tone is concerned.

For desktop recording I think you can't go wrong with the various Fortin plugins, but each to their own.

  • Sounds lifeless and “hollow”

Most people would ever only need stacked OD’s, reverb, delay, chorus and a tuner….at most
I have an old VOX tonelabLE that sounds way better. I would expect sound emulation would have improved in the last 12 years
