Sting is literally a master level musician and not just on bass
In a purely musical sense sting is THE perfect bass player. Perfect rhythm
And pocket. Perfect intonation. He creates a foundation for all his songs and his parts are clever, musical, rhythmic and perfect for his songs
And the fact that he can play them while singing his amazing melodies over the top is next level.
Sting is simply a musical genius!!!!
He's a very competent bass player, but the Police lost me after their excellent debut. With each subsequent release, my go-to was: "Have you heard the new Police album? It really Stin(g)ks."
PS. Anyone compared to Gene Simmons is a bass genius.

Avant de questionner les capacités de Sting, commences déjà par en écouter et essayes d'avoir sa carrière. HOW can this question even BE? Sting is not 'flashy', but his roots are in freakin' Jazz. On the other hand, singing and playing bass is kinda tricky. He's one of the most ingenious and creative bassist/singers around. And frankly, I really don't care if he's a nice chap or not.
If you have a good background in music theory and you play the guitar well, then bass in no problem. I never found it any harder to sing playing bass than guitar, singing along actually helps keep the rhythm.
Can Chris Squire and Les Claypool play bass? Yes and so can Sting

Never heard that one about Sting. Yeah, some are simple. But he is also singing while playing, like McCartney using simpler versions when singing. When I sing lead I opt for simpler grooves…wish I didnt have to, but hey.
