  • My SS SE is likely to be the last strat style guitar I ever buy. Now I can move onto other guitars… the thing is absolutely amazing

  • I’ll start with an apology to anyone who might be offended – I don’t intend to upset anyone. 🙂

The Springfield appears to me to have a more rounded tone with a bit more body and dynamics to the notes in the DI section. To me, the PRS def sounds a bit anaemic in comparison in that part.

Through the processing things even out a bit sonically. I’m only listening with earbuds on my phone but I’d struggle to tell which was which on a blind AB.

I don’t like the headstock on the PRS, and I’m a little surprise to see the joins on the body are clearly visible under the solid finish – they catch the light and that surprised me for a PRS.

But the absolute killer for me is the bird inlays. I just hate them. A dot neck would look soooooo much nicer.

  • aesthetically, i like the fender more. but in terms of sound and neck width and the clout, i prefer the silver sky

  • They both sound great, JNC. I don't think there's enough of a difference to matter at all, at least when listening on YouTube with the compression algorithm.

  • The strat body is such a wonderful rounded sweeping shape, then that PRS headstock looks the polar opposite. It’s jarring and looks like an off cut

  • Personally love the PRS headstocks and find it baffling that anyone would think otherwise. If Scarlett Johannson’s face was on Alexandra Daddario’s body, I wouldn’t be thinking ‘Ah, you ruined it’ ????

  • Neither is ugly. In fact it’s a nice touch that PRS flipped their usual headstock around to give a nod to Fender.

  • Loved the Kline sound. Just a headsup, the di sound of wireless thingy sounds significantly different that a guitar cable. The wireless transmitters tend to capture more frequency response (around highs) than a traditional cable would.

  • The difference between the instruments is basically that the K Line is unapologetically chasing the vintage vibe and aesthetic, where the Silver Sky is trying to place vintage characteristics into an otherwise modern instrument. The SS is more different from a Fender than the average Strat copy, albeit that many of the differences are quite subtle.

  • I bought a maple SS just to have a go due to all the hype. Well, believe the hype – over the last couple of years it's becomee my no. 1. TBH, I'm not 100% sure why – I think it's mostly because it's a "vanilla" guitar: there's nothing it does badly and it's pretty good at everything. Great build quality and the trem is the best I've ever had on a "strat"; it works.

  • I quite like a 3 on a side headstock, but didn't think it'd look ok on a Strat until I saw the Silver Sky. I think the not-quite-fender-shape of some guitar headstocks put me in that uncanny valley territory, so am afraid the K-Line doesn't sit well with me.

  • They sound close enough that I'd pick the one that's more comfortable to play. And along those lines, I wonder if you like doing bends on the PRS because of the 3 on a side tuners. It's half way to an inverted headstock.

  • Silver Sky sounded hollow. K-Line sounded fuller with more frequencies shining through. Have to go boutique with that

  • When you have to get the K-Line refretted (by someone you trust to do the work) would you consider stainless steel frets? I know they might feel and sound different, im just curious if you would consider that, so then it would last "forever".

  • 635 pickups == 1963/64 realm. The Silver Sky controversy that will not die. Both great guitars. Imo, "Hating a Silver Sky" is just silly…or worse.
