  • I love how he gaslights everyone who's telling him there's (legitimately) not enough bass in the mix: "Oh, you all must just have crappy speakers." lmao

  • Josh, I won’t stand for this rectifier slander.

Lots of good stuff used them too.

Such as Tool Undertow, and Aenima.

System of a Down self titled

Many others. Not just butt rock.

  • I think the Flatiron has one of the popular Rat mods, I can't remember what it's called. It's a little rounder and less fuzzy.

  • The Bends influenced by Nirvana?! I’m not sure either band were directly influenced by each other at the time, they did however share a lot of influences for sure. I may be wrong, it’d make an interesting discussion.

  • I'm glad you got the bass sends straightened out for the Scofield song song. I enjoyed that!

  • i bought a rat a couple years ago because stephen malkmus used it on pavement’s slanted and enchanted. that would have been quite endearing to hear this 3 piece take on the beautiful lo-fi chaos of any song on that album, complete with all the malkmusisms on vocals.

  • That chord you're talking about at the intro of drain you is the chord also known as the "hemispheres chord". It's also the opening chord on Smashing Pumpkins first album (Gish, I am One)

  • Drain you is in D standard btw, it was the bass man and Mesa boogie pre through a pulsonic greenback Marshall cab, he used a ds-1 on all songs, although he did use a rat for “territorial pissings” according to butch vig there was this “grunge” channel for drain you which he said was a specific pedal, although we do not know which it was.

  • This is bringing back some memories! Fellow Class of 2000er Josh. I had that Monster album mail ordered through the old BMG CD subscription! 1994 was such a good year for music. I will never forget the first music video I ever saw was R.E.M Losing My Religion on MTV!! (Probably 1992)
