as expected, the sky doesn't fall on your head when you play gypsy jazz on a OM style guitar AND even when you call an OM style guitar a dreadnought ????. Good playing will sound good on any guitar.
How do you buy from doderer??
would an archotp work better than a flatop tone wise/
Sounds different for sure. But you can pull it off if you'd be stuck for instruments.
It is the person playing not the guitar that matters
Ovation Adamas is better for Gipsy jazz. Martin -more for songs, not for instrumental music.
Hey, it works. The great Django Reinhardt was known for playing Jazz on the Acoustic Guitar.
Nice.
I love my Taylor and would not trade it´s lead sound for anything. And I do not like Martins. Played many models. Never liked the sound and the string action.
That's a Martin Orchestra, but still, the "treble" tone of the real deal sounds more like the real deal!
Taken separately they both sound great but the “gypsy guitar” definitely has that authentic sound. Nice playing!
For soloing, I think they all sound great
Both sound great, but for the rhythm portion, I prefer the gypsie.
The Martin sounds much tighter. It's like the gypsy guitar has cartoon strings on it that bend indefinitely. Why is that?
Might be better with silverplated gypsy jazz strings on the Martin
fine !
Great video! Well, I think there is a big difference, but more so with the rhythm guitar than the solo guitar. Although, I imagine the strings are contributing to this. What about another video, where you re-string a Martin to see how it compares. Thanks for sharing.
Clearly a difference and amazing playing. Thank you. And I didn’t think I was gonna learn anything today. !!!
Dude that's not a Dreadnought. That's an OOO????♂
Hey Dani could you do a video on the picking technique you use for electric ?
Since most of us will never score a real Gypsy jazz gig or the clothes to match just play whatever you have. And conspiracy theorists know that Django played a telecaster. Tone comes from the HANDS!
what is the name of the song played on those beautiful guitars?)
I’m tempted to give a thumbs down for calling an OM-18 a dreadnaught. The great playing redeemed you.
big boy chords ????
It does the job in a pinch, but the tone is all wrong.
More about the player than the equipment, but a weaker player would probably sound better on the gypsy guitar.
❤❤❤
It's not impossible or forbidden to play on something else than a gypsy jazz guitar… but to have the sound, it's way better (and more confortable) to have a gypsy jazz guitar IMO.
Dreadnought is definitely darker and less volume. Good for the rhythm player?
