Capturing Seasons In The Abyss Guitar Tone Marshall DSL20

Such a cool album, I have a new MXR 10 band to try and capture the tone just like Kerry and Jeff did. Turns out the Marshall DSL does a fantastic Slayer tone on its own. When I pushed the front end with the eq things got a little muddy and that snarl midrange got lost a little. I turned it off and wound the gain up a little and there it is…

  • I've bought this amp 2 years ago because of this video. To imitate BOSS RGE-10, I've tried Boss GE-7 Eq first before the amp, It sterilizes some unwanted frequencies but sounded more like Exodus. But when I tried on fx loop with ''sad face'' while 100 and 200k are on flat and 3,2 and 6,4ks are a little below the flat. It became pure Seasons In the Abyss.

  • I got a DSL100H and one of the rig rundowns has Gary playing them, copied the settings and rocking out. Doesn't sound like the album exactly, but the sound from his side of the tour is there.

  • This is spot on and you didn't even use a overdrive or EQ you should try maybe getting a hell awaits tone

  • The presence and resonance on this amp effect the power amp section so I've been doing most of my eq'ng from the loop on this amp

  • Does anyone know- on the album there's a left and right guitar each with it's own tone, is one side only Jeff and one side only Kerry? Or???

I know live Jeff was on left Kerry was on right (when seen from audience point of view)

  • Not sure I’ve mentioned this to you but the EQD plumes with this amp is crazy good. Way better tones and louder and more gain than the ZW od.
