Carl…ness.
Recently awarded “MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR 20/21” for the QLD Prestige awards – Carl Wockner is a straight-up SAVAGE! (the good kind).
Latest single “Fool’s Gold” is a delicate balance of organic-acoustic POP mixed with singer-songwriter lyricism and honesty, which is exactly what you get when you’re first exposed to Carl Wockner, especially in a live setting.
Determined to pave his own path in modern music – Wockner uses multi-instrumentalism and dynamic production to take listeners on a journey through multiple genres and sonic excitement, all while telling a story.
“Recent singles of 2020 END OF ME, PAINT THE AIR, STEREO, CMB have been a collaboration with pop producer Ben Flanders. We added specific ingredients of Pop production with REAL acoustic guitar, hits, taps – vocal trills and voicing. These were all incorporated INTO the beat to give a nice earthy presence, and we even added Kazoo (on Better) just because.. I really feel like we just straight up need more kazoo in our lives!”
Carl Wockner was named the first and ONLY Australian artist to ever win Top Honors at the International Acoustic Music Award’s 2015 (USA), along with top of the AAA category for the release of his album Crayon Days with producer Michael Flanders in Nashville TN. Wockner has skipped up the charts with his first two single releases receiving high rotation to national radio in both Australia and USA which landed the title track into the International Billboard Charts. The same album has received a 2016 IMA (Independent Music Awards) Finalist nomination for Best Adult Contemporary Album. It was following this recent success that Wockner relocated his family to Nashville TN, USA as a strategic move for his evolving career.
Sept 2019, Carl was featured for an entire episode of “Backstage Marquee” a syndicate show aired across the USA featuring original artists set to be ‘the next big thing.’
Sept 2018 Wockner performed LIVE on National USA Television. The show HLN on the CNN Network for the segment “The Weekend Express,” featured Carl’s original songwriting and performance as a showcase taste of Nashville / Music City.
His rare “Live Looping” style solo performance matched only with his signature vocals and unique acoustic guitar work renders Carl in a league of his own. The live shows have been recognized throughout Australia and USA with multiple headliner performances at festivals and touring, and Wockner is now rumoured as one of the busiest musicians in Nashville, TN – aka “Music City.”
Since landing in Nashville, Wockner has released two EP’s including a Christmas release with the favoured “Santa Selfie.” Currently his latest single “Better” is noted as the best studio representation of his signature live performance style.
There’s something about Carl Wockner’s music that simply exudes peace. The peace you feel when you’re humming along to a nostalgic track, or the peace you feel when you just know everything’s going to be ok. However you connect with Carl’s music, you would agree this he is definitely onto something.
Carl’s first EP, the self-produced, recorded, mixed (all in his lounge room) Acoustic…ness, was released in 2011 to an overwhelmingly positive response. Single “Pictures” received airplay on Hot 91 FM and ZINC FM, the latter of whose DJ’s referred to him as “the man with the big hair and Golden Tonsils.” Carl was also named a finalist in three categories at the 2012 and 2013 MusicOZ awards: Acoustic Singer/Songwriter, Blues and Roots, and Pop.

????and where is part1????
wonderful walkthrough thanks!
and what brand/type is that piezo? pickup?
Wow! Nice to find someone with the same looper from boss rc300. Brilliant piece of kit. I had mine from new when it first came out cuz that's a few years ago now. Gosh, doesn't time fly when you're having fun. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to check out your other videos
That's possible, thx!
Question, I've tried looper some beats on my Martin and my Taylor and I do have feedback busters in both guitars but when I try to make some beats its super muffled? Any ideas what could be wrong? Thank!
Hi Carl and Thanks for a great demo! Playing mostly on my Martin HD28 guitar with or without my Fishman amplifier.. a fine reverb .. which one do You recommend? And a looper possible for 4-5 layers .. Thankful for an answer! Peters
Did you check fender smolder acoustic drive pedal.. if didnt please do .. i m looking to buy it
what strings are you using on the Maton? Thanks
Thank you Carl for your accoustic setups.Very knowledgeable indeed…❤❤❤????
Love this video and I even as I’m commenting 6 years after this was posted, there’s still a lot of useful common sense insight here for a live performer. Thanks Mr W for your thoughts.
really heplfull video, thanks so much for uploading it
Great information video. Are you running your In-Ears wirelessly? where are you taking the signal from? Also, what makes the Xotic booster suit the acoustic guitar? Can you adjust the low and high pass filters or how does it work so well?
You say a lot more, demu immediately
Thank you for the sharing. I dream of a kind of ¨telecaster sound¨ on my mini Diesel… I have the Fender Smolder which is good but not having that ¨country vibe¨ . I think your blue pedal is better…
super helpful–thank you
Everything you said is true. But I am one of those piezoelectric haters. I use knk mini transducer. Simple good sound. No battery. With the harsh piezoelectric, you need compression and more e.q., basically all the equipment is needed to smooth out the piezoelectric. That's alot to pack around, wires to short out, come unplugged and things to go wrong. I like the idea of being off grid. Are you dependent on all this or can you perform in a place when and where there is no power? I did all this 20 yrs ago. You accidentally bump a dial and spend 10 minutes looking for the problem. It's too much gear
so, I go in-ear, and CONSTANTLY hate not having the crowd in my ears in between songs, and this gives me that chance to turn audience noise off and on on a separate floor mic. thanks!!
Hi Carl! Thanks for your video!! I love the sound of your guitar. Can you please tell me the name of the pikup system. I think maton has many pickup systems… Greetings from germany Peter

Thank you so much! This really helps me with my new setup. I don't understand, you should have a million subs on your channel dude. Anyways, I just sub and support you. m/
Excellent Carl ! Thanks. I know this video goes back some time. Have you considered the Loopy Pro software? I am a newbie to looping and trying to figure out things by w2atching experienced guys like you. How would you compare the looping process on stage. It almost feels like you need to be a Rocket Scientist to work Loopy Pro but the capability to create and record is better. Will sub and watch your other videos. Thanks again.
THX CARL …..great explanations – good taste……….Did you also try other Compressors you liked ?
Thanks for this info. I'm going to check and see if I can get one of those guitars in a lefty model. The smaller guitar would be great for taking to open mics across my state of Maine. Just missed a chance to see you in Bar Harbor.
Nice Video Carl
How have u been ? Habent been gigging in australia since 2019.
Hi Carl,
Thank you the video, Just want to ask how the touch on it. I prefer low touch specially on upper frets. Max I go is D chord 4th position.
Please help. I mainly play fingure style jazz, bossa and blues.
Currently own crafter nylon string and Want to move to steel strings.
nice guitar, pedals and boots
I found that Bone pins sound better for me and my ears
Love your sound, what amp do you use at home?
Hey Carl…thanks for the info in the video. Can you interchange guitars (between acoustic and electric) on this pedal board set up?
Hey man, have you checked out the EHXBass9 to get that bass sound?
You can plug acoustic guitars into a electric guitar amp. It sounds pretty cool.
Like a boss! COOL VIDEO MAN! Hype!!
Thank you, Carl, for all the precious tips, I'm learning from you a lot while building my own pedalboard. One question though: I have a big problem using IE monitors and singing, there's just too much of resonance. Maybe I should have purchased less bassy headphones (I've got CCA CA16 and no mix so far to EQ the monitoring output from my Play Acoustic). Any advice to that? Thank you so much once again!
What strings and string gauge do you use?
Hello Carl, how do you think about stereosounds? Could it be boring after a while, when a ping pong signal is crossing from left to right the whole show, or is playing guitar in stereo a good idea? Very cool what you can do only by yourself.
Hey mate do you think the ibanez ts9dx is a good distortion pedal fit for acoustic guitar?
I've never heard a small guitar Sound so big & full. It sounded Mic'd-up. Love that small Maton Acoustic. Nice playing & tones. oNe LoVe from NYC
Hello. Is the guitar pickup the original pickup, or have you made a modification to achieve this superb sound quality? thank you.
Refreshing! Tons of VALUABLE knowledge based on experience and dedicated effort to bringing your best performance. But first…. soft spoken humility and a genuine attitude of caring. None of the hype or ego so prevalent in the business. GREAT JOB young man!
I'm not a true professional performer like yourself but my country rock band beat the road for 26 years playing 1 to 3 night weekend gigs in 3 states while I raised a family and worked as a telephone lineman. Then I spent 10 years in a bluegrass gospel group doing some recording as well. I learned so much in this band. I put together a sound system where we all, except bass, played acoustically and sang through three Audio Technica (AT4033) large diaphragm condenser mics. The experience was phenominal. Every nuance controlled simply by mic proximity and how you held your instrument in relation to the mic. Its an experience I hope you get to enjoy if you havn't already. True freedom! The tonewood and strings get to sing!
I now perform mostly solo or in a duet in church and some secular gigs in a duet with my brother. I retired back in September and I'm excitedly gearing up and preparing to perform in a solo acoustic setting this year.
While learning from others on youtube, your video popped up. So much of what you conveyed rang true with my own years of experience. In your short presentation you answered questions regarding problems I'd never found solutions to. THANK YOU SINCERELY!
The old man has rambled enough. I wish you a very contented and joyous life and I truely hope that you achieve whatever your own definition of success in the music business is now and whatever it evolves to be as time goes on.
BTW, your live streamed videos sound incredible and like I'm in the same room when I play them through my recently acquired Fishman Loudbox Performer!
Keep up the great work!
BRAVO!
What is covering your sound hole and why?
thank you brother for your explain????
