Carvin BX250 Micro Bass Amp Head | Test
500W into 4 Ohms Bass Head.
Tested with:
00:00 Laney R115 (1×15)
03:02 Barefaced One 10 (1×10)
03:34 Phil Jones Bass C2 (2×5)
08:16 XLR/D.I. Audio
Instrument Cable: REFERENCE Dammi Un Cavo
A bass head (in my opinion) should have the following features:
– active/passive switch (or separate inputs)
– be fanless (no hardware background noise so you can use it even for study at home)
– having XLR out
– have ground lift
– have a tuner output
– have a headphone output
– don’t weigh a lot
– be solid
– have a good sound đ
In addition:
– have a wide range of mid options
– have a fx loop
It is surprising that a head produced many years ago with all these requirements (apart from the fx loop which I personally don’t use) is still so great. Especially, if compared to the 95% of the even more expensive bass heads produced in recent times where something is missing.
Tone is great and 200w RMS at 8 Ohms allows you to use it even with a smaller cab but with a volume not so small after all.
It is discontinued but if you still find one… I strongly suggest to consider to get it đ
