like you say, the cannabis rex is a smoother speaker and you can hear that here. i'd prefer it over the v30. i've never been keen on the v30 – always found it a bit hard edged. i recently put a wgs et65 in my deluxe reverb and love it. but in the end it's what you prefer and what suits your playing best
both really loud speakers.
I looked it up, the rex is actually a touch louder per watt
did you try a " Weber beam blocker " yet ?
I have a pair of v30's in a big & heavy Monoprice cab that I have not used and a SuperChamp X2 head just sitting on it unplugged. ????
Think I will try it out before I sell it but I am getting great tones in the bedroom with the ubiquitous Celestion 70/80 in my monoprice 15watt tube amp.
Some people say the v30's need to be broken in to reach their full potential but I am skeptical and a little underwhelmed with the hyped up vintage 30's. (I do not rip high gain riffs or play at war volume which might be the problem.)
Speakers are the key element in tone but it is more of an art than science and when you get great sound from cheap gear it sure is satisfying.
Think I will snag a $35 Peavey Studio pro 40 this week and what it can do.
