Chameleon (Live at the Hollywood Bowl, 2024) – No Treble

“Chameleon” is one of the most iconic synth bass lines in history. This tune is played in basements, middle and high school bands (mine included), jam sessions, etc. You just can’t escape the funk!

Herbie Hancock recently performed at The Hollywood Bowl to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the uber-influential Headhunters LP. Joined by the original members of the band (RIP Paul Jackson), we also see some familiar faces. The band includes Harvey Mason on the kit, the great Bill Summers on percussion, Bennie Maupin on woodwinds, and the man himself, Marcus Miller on P-bass (subbing for the late, great Paul Jackson), Devin Daniels on sax, and Julian “JP30” on aux keys.

Let’s go back to 1973!
