While David Gilmour is known for his epic guitar solos, there’s a delay trick he uses that makes his rhythm guitar playing tight and groovy.
And if you’re recording electric guitars, using delay correctly can create a tight groove quick and easy, and keep your mixes exciting from start to finish.
In this week’s video, producer and vocal coach Chris Liepe shows you how to do this with the stock plugins inside Logic Pro, but this lesson can be applied into any DAW of your personal choice.

Hey Chris, what's the iPad app you're using to monitor your cameras?
"dancing with the delay"….best and most important line of the entire video.
Delay sounds good on bass too. 🙂 https://soundcloud.com/mbd414/todays-tragedy
Hey Folks! Have you ever tried the Pulsar Echorec for a Gilmour's sound? >>> https://pulsar.audio/echorec/
The Pulsar Echorec is a software emulation of the iconic echo/delay unit of the same name produced by the Italian brand Binson in the 1960s.
doesn't sound like david gilmour
Wow. A really long way around saying "Play 8ths, set delay to Dotted Eighths with Tap Tempo".
Thank you so much for the delay tip on recording guitar I love using delay on my electric guitar it just fattens up the tone and brings your electric guitar to life
Great playing ,cool groove .cant hear the lyrics .
Great information David I've been a fan of Pink Floyd's music since I first heard the band. Love you all. Glen McQuillan221156@Gmail.com.
pretty standard stuff
Hi Chris,
Great video, instruction, and demonstration. You got this old strat owner’s attention however. I noticed the metal nut on that strat. Is that part of a custom whammy system and if so, what brand please? Just curious.
Thank you,
Roger Owens
Great ????
Hi recordinggrevolution, That was very cool. Time to go plug in and lay some stuff down. <3333333333333333333
Great sounding effect, but what's going on with the second delay, you barely mention it? Is it synced? Same dotted 8th notes?
What's that second delay pedal doing?
That was very cool. Time to go plug in and lay some stuff down. Thanks for the inspiration.
Sounds like you are holding back, when do you let the notes soar, like Gilmore, maybe in the next lesson, now that we covered the basics.
Great insights!
Great demonstration, Chris!
Did I miss something? Did Graham die or something? Not that there's anything wrong with Chris, it's just weird that Graham has been MIA for so long.
Chris, great tips. I've never seen a step by step instruction on nailing this technique. Thank you. On an unrelated note, where did you get your mixing desk? What brand is it? I've been meaning to ask you for a while but keep forgetting…
Great video, Thanks!
Sounds like The Edge, too. I like that metalic grey Strat. Can I have that? ????
Great technique and really well explained. Thank you!
Nailed it again.

Where is Graham these days?
Nice ideas. Good recommendations for beginners like me. I’m gearing up to borrow my neighbor’s Les Paul for a layered theme-based lead track to augment an otherwise acoustic song. I’ll need time to dial in the tone and vibe. Thanks.
10:30 and 11:10 sound more like Ben Howard thing for me 🙂
Buckethead, yes. David Gilmour.. not even close LOL wtf
I really need Logic to make a “Guitarist” track similar to “drummer” but….guitars. ????
Great ideas. ????????
Nice ????????
havent been here in a while hey
Hello! Great video Thanks!
Just wondering about the delay. Did you need to sync it to the project's tempo?
I think it's a nice try but your lacking a feel that you can express through dynamics. And I'm referring to instruments in the backing track as well as the lead guitar parts. An ebb and flow. I suggest listening to Steve Miller's Fly Like an Eagle song as well as the rest of the songs on the album. He predates U2 and was taught guitar by none other than Les Paul as a child.

David Gilmore is an atheist because he has a brain. So why is he being talked about in this inspid Christian's channel? Stick to Maroon 5.
