Dont sell your amps just yet?
So everyone is saying sell your amps the future is here…..well if you love you trusty old tube boxes then don’t….get a Torpedo captor X instead and have all of the digital power of a modeller/pedal but at controllable levels and tweak-ability.

I've NEVER , EVER got a good sound by mic'ing. A few years ago I got the Two Notes Torpedo Captor … not a load box but provides 20db of attenuation and same Wall of Sound program. Along the way I bought a few of their cabs and they gave me their modeler program, Genome, for free.
Great video! I’m happy with my modeller of choice but I’ll always love my amp. I had the two notes a few years back and thought it was great. However I just got the Boss Waza Tube Amp Expander, yes it is pricey but for me the sound was a league above the Two Notes
I had the original Captor 8, but when boosting my JMP 1987 clone it would force it into overheat protection mode within seconds, so I'd have to scramble to switch the amp off. Too much amp for it. It worked great with my 15 watt Laney IRT studio or Silver Jubilee 2525H though. For the JMP clone I got a Freyette Power Station to be on the safe side (it can handle 200 watts).
So yeah, I am wondering if the Captor X can handle a Plexi better than the Captor 8 can? I like the convenient all in one reactive load and IR loader aspect to them, but need more power handling. Does anybody know if they beefed up the load resistors? (edit: I should probably email them I guess).
P.S. I picked up an old Marshall Mode Four MF280B 4×12 recently. Worth every penny. Those Marshall Vintage 30MF speakers are great and the cab sounds awesome. Not expensive. I guess people equate MF with MG and think its a budget cab made from MDF. Nope. It was top of the line at the time. All Baltic birch etc. Lucky me. I got it mainly so my nephew could experience what a full stack is like to play through, plus it makes me smile every time I see the full stack when I am on my first coffee in the morning (that's gotta be worth something too).
the Marshall TSL! Blast from the past and a killer amp!!
I bought the Two Notes Live 12 years ago. I use that at home with my amps, and use the Cab M at gigs instead of a mic. Bring a small cab and have a massive 4×12 FOH.
I’m ended up selling my modellers and the option paralysis was cured. Yeah, weird in a an age of game changing gear.
I cannot sell what I don't have 😀
Been a Captor X user for years, and it was a gamechanger. Been using it live as well (although i tend to bring the Captor M+ nowadays) and it's fantastic.
i really think there is one thing TwoNotes must do to the Captor X: Release a new version with a Stereo FX loop. That would add an FX loop to older amp designs like Plexis, Orange OR120s or Laney Supergroups and give them fantastic use.
It can be done with a Captor X + Two notes Cab and some splitting involved, but i'd love to have the stereo loop in just one unit.
Damn, I haven't seen a video of yours in years, glad to see you're still uploading. I still listen to Degrees of Decomposition pretty often haha. On the topic of the video. I love my amps. I have a Randall Thrasher 50 and a Marshall 8100, I'm recording my first EP with the Thrasher this week, definitely not something I'm gonna get rid of for a loooong time, if ever.
Let em sell it all. That just means killer deals for me.
I own an axefx3 and QC. I just bought two new Diezel amps last week. The reason why is I heard them in the AXEFX3 (through a power amp). And the real amps are absolutely amazing. I think that’s an anomaly for a lot of folks – modeler inspiring folks to buy certain amps… but thank you Neural for turning me onto these amps!
Dude this sounds great ???????????? hell yeah ????
just stick a sennheiser 421 right in front of a speaker ( mesa 4 x 12 cab) , good to go. no bullshit needed. and if your amp is a good one like 90s rectos no pedals needed either.
Digital crap has gotten good enough to use, but if you want the best it's still rectifier into mesa 4 x 12 miced with Sennheiser 421 ( old version sounds better )
The future has been here since 1992
Yeah! My tubes was storaged for years until I find this device. Now I’m tubes at home and digital at stage.
Yes. Flood the market so the prices drop and I can buy them !!!
Hi Paul, sounding great as usual man. I got one of these recently, cant believe I left it so long, amazing tones.
