  • That green is a nylon coating and they also have other colors including black and white and blue and other colors.

Nylon is chemically extremely stable. It's unlikely to react with anything including your sweat.

In a live environment when you're sweating a lot, the strings might get slippery. Nylon is very slippery.

Nylon cleans very easily. Nothing will stick to nylon.

  • I got these on a used bass, I normally would never buy something like this, but I have to say, I have sweaty hands and these neons are easier to grip with my fretting hand than nickel plated strings, so if you guys are greasy like me, give these a try, they help with bends.

I do have a complaint: you know that static/hum sound that goes away when you touch the strings? Well… It doesn't work like that with these coated strings, theses things will have unwanted and intermittent background noise; keep that in mind.

  • I've been trying to find out if these are round or flat wound, I've bought a 5 string pair for my acoustic bass

  • Love my DR HI-BEAMS… to me they sound like round wound (which they are) but are so well wound they almost feel like some flat wounds. And even after playing on them for 1 yr only a little deadening is noticeable. Great Strings. Gonna have to try the Greens…would look great on my black Yamaha TRBX-504

  • Cool, I always thought these were a novelty, but now that I finally have a bass again I kind of want to pick up a set. Glad to hear that they haven't really flaked of or deadened more than a normal string would. Think I'll go for blue or red.

  • Does these strings glow under any specific lights ????. Can they glow in a dark room where there is no light????!

  • Pity, they do not do more gauges. If you downtunes quite a bit, like D, the 120 from 5s hs quite a tense there… Good for B, maybe doable for D but for E, it is bit too much. And if you use only one instrument… I would prefer something like 110 or 115 for 4s set as well… They looks dope. Green is the prettiest but red is nice too.

  • When I lost my job a couple years back I had the same set of Dr black beauties on my six string bass the only color loss was right at the frets but they sounded absolutely dead but as expected for 2 year old strings but otherwise didn't feel absolutely rubbish. And still would work for jazz or a Motown gig

  • My concern is whether or not they are more likely to catch fire and burn, with my ultra-fast playing style. I constantly switch between finger picking with my first 2 fingers, while using a regular pick(that I hold between my ring finger & pinky). So I've got 2 separate picking styles going on at once. The speed and fury creates much friction and heat! Lol

  • These strings deadened a lot after 2 gigs ..My Newtone strings 8 gigs in still sound a lot brighter & punchy ..very disappointed 🙁

  • I've used these strings on guitar (yellow and orange, .010), and I can say they look very cool the first days, and UV light makes them very bright, but after just playing a few hours I noticed that the thinner strings lost the color on the places where there was direct contact with the frets (especially the thinnest string, on that one it happened after some minutes), and it was showing the chrome color from underneath. The thicker strings kept their color for a really long time though. I also wonder if I got bad packs, like from months in the warehouse…

  • how are the strings now if you're still using them? or how long did they last before you've replaced them?

  • great video man and awesome review. I ordered some yellow ones online for my orange 5 string ibanez and i am nervous/supaexcited to try them out ha. Thanks for showing them off!

  • they're not just green… you have to use them in darkness, preferably with ultraviolet lamp

  • I'm quite tempted with a pack of the 50-110s of these for playing live, I think they'd look pretty good on stage. £35ish a pack, though, and somewhat tricky to locate :/
