  • Matt, what is Luke trying to achieve by putting the black dot heads on the bottom of the toms? I have been in the business since 1978 and I have never seen a black dot on the bottom before.

  • Hi Matt, how you doing? I am Roberto from Mexico, my friends & family call me Bobby ????. I really like your videos, they are very illustrative and have helped me better understand what the activities of a drum tech are generally. I think it would be very cool of you could make a video of that first meeting with the drummer you are going to tech to understand the agreements you reach, so we can "close the cycle" of drum tech. Cheers

  • Cool video. And even cooler You are getting to do what you love with some good meals tossed in. That catering looked tasty indeed! And that is the KEY to a GOOD LIFE without regrets – DO WHAT YOU LOVE! Life Without Music (and drums) Would be a Mistake! (Everything in the Universe resonates with sound and Frequency. It is the basis of everything including Life in the Universe. To deny Music is to deny Life). Peace.

  • Awesome video! I saw Rush in that venue for their Time Machine tour, Aug 2010… damn, time flies.

  • Hello Matt, I enjoy your videos quite a bit. I’m also a drummer in the local cover band scene in Mpls, just part time though as I have a day job and play for fun. Currently I’m not in a band but I do tech for a friend and his cover band and it’s a lot of fun just being around a band and shows even though I’m not playing. Like you I’d rather be actually playing the gigs but for now this will do. Anyway I enjoy seeing the bts action with real pros so keep it up, I’ll be watching.

  • Looking forward to Friday at Jiffy Lube Live. I'm not sure why Live Nation says the venue is in Bristow VA – there's a larger town (Gainesville VA) a lot closer to the venue. Oh well. In honor of my first rock concert in…. 30 years or so, I've learned the lyrics to "Zombified" so I'll be singing along to at least one of FiR's songs. I probably won't see you Matt because the gates won't open until 4:45 so have a good show!
EDIT: Well, I suppose we'll get to see you doing a final sound check after Dance Gavin Dance's set. I'll bellow out a "MAAATTTT!" sometime then. ????

  • Might as well make a small cheat sheet sticker to put it on top of the tuner. No need to check your phone then.

  • Honestly, I think this should be a game. First person. Like drum tech simulator.
