By todays standards Clapton is scarcely better than your average pub player. Like every other guitarist mentioned in this thread, Clapton is 'stuck in the pentatonic'.The blues scale is passed it's sell by date, it's been flogged to death. There are far more technically and harmoniously gifted young players on YouTube than Clapton or any of the above mentioned players. Seek them out and give your ears a treat.
