  • Nice guitar! I have the epiphone aj100ce/n which is a really similar guitar. But mine is all laminate construction with a cutaway and has a piezo pickup for playing acoustic electric. I know that solid top normally has a richer tone, but even the one I have which is a laminated spruce top has a really nice tone! Epiphone definatly makes some nice guitars, a lot of which are great for beginners or intermediate players. My guitar came with a glossy neck but I sanded it down with super high grit sandpaper to give it a more matte finish which feels a lot less sticky. I also did a low action setup to make it really easy to play. A good low action setup makes a big difference. Makes it way easier to play.

  • What a better sir..
    Morris md507 or epiphone aj220s?
In sounds and wide neck distance..because the epiphone has a neck that is rather small and slim..for big fingers it doesn't feel comfortable..

  • Hello Edwin. Thanks for the video.

I just found one of these models someone was getting rid of and fixed it up a little.

Do you happen to know the retail value?

  • The banjo player in our bluegrass band calls my Epiphone Masterbilt my "Cheep Gibson"!!! 72 years of playing and I still get little respect.

  • Edmund: Ive forgotten the specs on this guitar that I once owned but used if for trading up to another guitar purposes. Youve answered my questions before. I was aware it had a solid top but had forgotten if the sides & back were solid too? Seems unlikely at the price point. I used it
to trade up to a Martin. I think the tuning machines were of questionable quality and longevity. I bought it at Sweetwater Music.

  • Sounds great! Very Gibson J45 sounding, I played a $2,000.00 Gibson J45 at a guitarcenter a while back and that guitar sounds way better! Although I'm pretty positive the gibson was in dire need of a string change and some hydration as well.

  • Edwin. I'm in favor of upgrading to the DR500.
A guy in our BG club has
a DR500..Sounds good. My latest buy was the
    Seagull S6..love it

  • Edwin. Hello my Tagalog Amigo. I'm assuming the back and sides are laminated on the 220? I own a DR400 and its a steady player at our blue
grass genre clubs jam sessions. How do you compare the AJ220 and the AJ200 since they're both laminated? I was considering picking up a
DR500. but I might settle for the 200 or 220. Please give me your input on this issue. My pal Ray served at Subic Bay and married a lovely Filipina.

  • Can't quite fathom Sweetwater instructing not to unbox. Give time for Epi to acclamate to N E Texas surroundings? They instructed a 24 hour wait. Epi sat
in FedEx center, amid N E Tx temps.for some time. Then another 24 hours in my home. Whats with this? Epi sat amost 48 hours in its shipping box. I've had
several guitars shipped to me since I started buying them. Whattever Sweetwater wanted, Sweetwater got!!!!

  • I recieved my AJ45S (not ME model). AJ45S kis the unamplified model. Of no matter since I play bluegrass. Besides having no internal amp the tuning
machines are of plastic not nickle. Best I can tell sounds like the ME model. Guitar came from Sweetwater in Indiana via FedEx, There is a notice on box
not to unbox for 24 hours. I did this and A and G string were outta tune. Tuned it to 440 now I'm happy with my Epi Christmas gift. I also own a Martin.
