I think I prefer the Epiphone. It projects better and seems to have a warmer sound than the Gibson.
Epiphone sounds better to me
The sound exactly the freaking same.
admit that gibson wont let any of you guys do epiphpne hummingbird studio vs epiphone inspired by gibson
So epiphone sounds way better imo
And the price is even better too
Better quality and stuff idc
My guitars are stored in a case in a climate controlled room
Brilliant and very helpful video. Thanks, men!
What color is that Epiphone model? I really like that dark brown but I can't find it anywhere
Being one of YouTubers bonafide experts on everything Epiphone wins all around. And I have superman grade hearing too.
I got news for ya.. your articulation and playing cleaner ( MUCH CLEANER) was evident that you are a far better match with the Epi! Maybe in person the Gibson may sound better however to me the Gibson lacks definition as well as a bit of projection in this video. Why but a guitar that is more difficult to play but also is 4 times more expensive.. honestly if they were BOTH branded either Gibson or Epiphone you too would favor the Epi at the same price and not knowing the differences in construction. EPI wins hands down. I don't like the look of that Epi so it loses there but other than that…EPI!
I have felt in a minority of one regarding 'Epiphone Inspired by Gibson' guitars so today I went looking for a not so "WOW! These are ace at a fraction of the price" reviews. I was looking for a built-in double output electro acoustic to avoid having to get round not having a built-in double output electro acoustic guitar. An electro acoustic guitar of my choice is not a Gibson….but the EJ200SCE seemed like a good bet for what I was looking for based on the reviews on YouTube so I bought one along with the appropriate Epiphone hard case. As for value for money it's not a bad guitar. Indeed I'd go further and say it offers good value for money….depending on what you are looking for. Mine has never left my home and remains on a wall bracket since the day it was delivered. As for a comparison to the Gibson that everybody tells me it is intended to emulate….it doesn't. The reviews I have so far seen about 'Epiphone Inspired by Gibson' have to have been compiled with a heavy bias. If you want a Gibson Les Paul, an SG, a Hummingbird, a J45 etc….I don't see a copy scratching your itch….It didn't scratch mine!
Both sound nice but definitely think the Gibson has a bit more volume and sound sustains that little bit longer, for me I would choose the epiphone hummingbird,it's alot of guitar for the money and sounds great an prefer the looks of the epiphone over the Gibson great review guys, greetings from Scotland ????????????????????????????????
Gibson is much cleaner
Would you know what strings are being used for each guitar. Are they different ? Is one more expensive than the other?
I have the IBG J-45. It feels and sounds a lot like the Gibson, just not quite there. Tremendous value for money and a keeper. I didn't buy the IBG Hummingbird when they were still made in Indonesia, as I had a cheaper version already. Now I've fallen for the 'Bird but the IBG is now made in China (since late 2023 or early 2024) and reports are mixed and generally poor, so it had to be the Gibson Standard in that dark 'burst. Even less reason to upgrade the J-45 now.
What song are you playing?
Scammed by Gibson
In all transparency, the Epiphone sounds a bit more “Broken In”, and has a mellower sound to it, which I actually prefer.
I’d love for those to be USA made.
I'm pretty happy with my new Epi Hummingbird; it's a great guitar at the price point. The original Gibson version feels way better; of course, it should. They look and sound pretty similar, but there is something in the touch and the feeling that is pretty clear about the superior materials and build.
he got a good one of the epi for sure. I got one, it is very marginal, dead by comparison to that one. they are sadly overbuilt.
I ordered, it's on its way.
How are the Pickups live through PA
I love Epiphone's "Inspired by Gibson" series and their Masterbilt series of guitars. We have the J-200 and the Texan. Yes they are different sounding from Gibson, but they are absolutely outstanding guitars. We also have a Gibson J-45, a 1965 Epiphone Texan and a Martin HD-28V, so I can see the build quality differences. But for 1/3 to 1/5 the cost of an American made guitar, you can't go wrong with the higher end , non American made, Epiphones from these 2 series of guitars.
I have some epiphone ft models that have adjustable bridges and bolt on necks..from the 70s made in japan..and they reeeeek of gibson..blue tags that say Kalamazoo..look into them
What strings are on these guitars? Gauges and brand?
I definitely thought the Epi sounds a little choked off. Gibson definitely sounds better and is a lighter guitar in my opinion. I like the looks of the Epi, but it ain’t no Gibson. Must be the quality of the wood and the finish that makes the difference. Paying the difference was worth it to me.
How can one tell the difference between the $400 Epiphone Hummingbird and the $900 model without listening to them? I've seen $400 ones with the vintage style white tuning heads. Usually the Epiphone logo in the sound hole has a heavier typeface for the cheaper model. But not always. Very confused.
The Epi is epic. There's no reason to buy the Gibson. I actually preferred the Epiphone version. At the price its a steal.
The Epiphone IBG Hummingbird is slightly brighter sounding and the Gibson is slightly deeper sounding but the Epiphone IBG is a close equivalent in sound. Its great you can get an all solid body Epiphone Hummingbird based on Gibson specs.
Th Gibby sounds balanced and refined by comparison. The Epi seems a killer value.
The Epiphone actually says, "Epiphone" on the headstock….
I know a Guy who bought a Gibson hummingbird, and is sorry, he bought a 400.00 Alvarez dreadnought that sounds a whole lot better, thumbs up subbed Great video God Bless ya's Abundantly
Can't they just make the pick guards the same?
It's just a matter of what a person wants and what they can afford. I have friends that put their money cars, boats, and guitars. It's just a matter of what a person wants. I have two Gibson's and one epi; I pick up the Gibson the most!
Pretty certain that, if you slapped "Gibson" on the headstock, few could tell the difference
I have been noticing that the color of the top of many guitars are kind of two-tone. They don't match, colorwise. I also noticed this on the Epi 12 string you demoed. Thanks for a fantastic comparison! I love your videos.
