The Thunderbird IV was first introduced in 1963 and instantly became one of rock’s most recognizable bass guitar designs. For almost five decades, the Thunderbird has powered artists as varied as Nikki Sixx, The Who, Kings of Leon, Cheap Trick, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steely Dan and The Silversun Pickups. Turn on your radio and you’ll hear a Thunderbird bass. Now, Epiphone takes all the vintage mojo of the original Thunderbird IV and sends it flying into the future with Gibson TB Plus™ humbuckers with ceramic magnets and all the ‘Bird’s original styling and features intact.

The Thunderbird IV was one of the most radical designs to come out of the Gibson and Epiphone Kalamazoo factory in the early ’60s, thanks to legendary automotive designer Ray Dietrich, who was asked to put a new twist on solidbody guitars and basses. The sound of the Thunderbird IV was as cutting edge as its design and now the Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO returns with all of Epiphone’s first-class quality and a lifetime guarantee, but without the hassles of owning (or hiding) a vintage instrument.

Like all Epiphone instruments, the Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO comes with Epiphone’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and Gibson 24/7/365 customer service. Visit your Authorized Epiphone Dealer today and soar to a new future with the Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO.

  • +BestBassGuitars Incorrect, that is a completely different bass with different cheaper construction and electronics. It's also half the price of this bass.

  • I've done some research and that particular model was one of the early classic pros. With a set maple neck with walnut finish stain and mahogany body. With Epi pickups not Gibson! The new classic pros are out and are the ones with the 7 ply neckthru and genuine gibson pups. The solid black headstock is a dead give away. He's a liar!!!!!.

  • Feels, sounds, and looks awesome!! A lot more than I expected. The only problem (not with THIS product) was to get a gig bag for this bass.

here is the link to it in case anyone is interested:amzn.to14ft3zy

  • I have an alpine white showing up tomorrow, can't wait! Would have been nice to see more on the actual sound of the instrument instead of that one Zeppelin riff.

  • I'm ordered one in Hungary in Alpine White, but i have a question…. Is it good for hard/glam rock?? I plays Mötley, Skid Row, Tesla, Bon Jovi, GN'R and etc. My main bass is an Epi Blackbird and it's awesome for that kind of music but i throught it's better than my Blackbird, but I'm not very satisfied with this sound…
