  • I don’t look past the 80’s for Bass guitars the last great era of great instruments.

  • I won't lie, I'm totally stoked about the Sire Z series basses due to the added neck pickup. I used to play a Music Man style bass for a long time and always missed having a neck pickup to add a bit more warmth/oomph without making the bass sound too boomy as maxing the bass EQ would. Z series basses with neck pickups are even going to be available in lefty, this is almost too good to be true!

  • Do you ever get out to the Dallas International Guitar festival? We should link up sometime!

  • Hey, love your vids. What bass would you recomend for post punk new wave kinda stuff. Would like to use analog chorus effect. Rickenbacker for my ears has the best glassy sound but its too expensive.

  • I picked up an older black GW on a deal a while ago. 1st fretless, 1st 5 string. I love it, but the new one looks awesome.

  • Spector has brought out a bunch of Basses which look amazing including fan fretted ones, one I would love to try is the Dimension 4, and there's also a really whacky design by PureSlam which is their Creep bass, it looks so weird and crazy, and I love it!

  • Sire seems to built the next Stingray- Killer. Let's see whether the first detailed test reports reflect what you can expect from the brand.

  • The Sterling by Sterling seems like a consolation prize put out by EB for those who couldn’t snag a Joe Dart lol. Still cool, but def odd.

  • I saw Johnny Dibbles video on the Ashdown Roasted Series Basses and I loved them. I got what I believe to be the last Ashdown Roasted I was able to find online, a Saint Soap in Onyx Green. I found in a Mom & Pop Shop in the UK. It was stuck in Customs for nearly a week, then, when it was released, the plane broke down! ARRG! It should be in soon. I'm really looking forward to giving it thorough shakedown.
As for the Ibanez TMB400TA and 405TA, from everything I've seen and read, they have the same electronics as the TMB-100s, but with a beautiful finish. The Dynamix P & J pickups are fairly hot ceramic pickups. They aren't a vintage style like the looks of the bass, but rather modern sounding. Of course, with the new finishes, they do seem more appropriate. The tone and hardware quality of the preamp left a bit to be desired. I installed a set of vintage voiced pickups and an aftermarket two band preamp with blend control and it sounded much better for my playing style.

  • Looking forward to Cort's upcoming bass releases. I manged to get one in my hands early and it sounds amazing.

  • I wish Ibanez would make passive-only basses. I could buy like a SR505E with the active/passive toggle, but I'd never toggle it on. I'd love a passive SR305.

  • Sire really has completely invalidated Squier and even Mexican Fender for me. They make Boutique level quality basses at such low prices and their QC is always on point. I have the V9 Ash sort of black doghair finish jazz bass and that thing is still the best feeling "normal" bass I have played.
