Have never really strummed without a pick and was trying to figure out how to transition from fingerpicking to the strumming with a pick but looks like you're not using a pick?

I've been teaching people playing guitar while singing. Not that easy but indeed perfectly doable, even for a beginner. Well, maybe not this one due to difficulty of picking specific strings when you start playing guitar.
Anyways, except for the learning of the text which is in itself a little challenge, we share the same part by part methodology: simple, straight to the point and above true to the original song. Meaning from the first bar to the last bar as it has been written by the composer.
For the lyrics, I recommend to learn it with the real rythm, first no singing just talking.
To help memorizing it all, my method is to be able to remember the first 2 or 3 words of each verse and to be able to visualise it in your head or to say it, to make sure you got it.
At the end you only need the guitar, the capo and the voice, no paper, or just with the first word of each part written down. That way, you can put several songs on a single sheet of paper.
For this song you save me a precious time. The chorus is beautiful, the way it starts is powerful as a twelve-troke engine. Thank you.
