Hey Everyone! Today we’re taking a brief reprieve from mods to bring you one of the most anticipated reviews of 2022, the Fender MonoNeon Signature Jazz Bass V. This bass is very unique with its eye popping finish, painted pickguard, gold hardware, and the fat Firecracker humbuckers paired to Fender’s Player Plus 3 band 18v preamp. There’s a lot to like about the new Fender MonoNeon Jazz V, but is there enough to justify the $1549 price tag for this Made in Mexico Fender? Let’s find out!

This bass and all my other basses with rounds are strung with SIT Foundation Nickel Plated Stainless Steel 45-105(125) unless otherwise noted. Check them out at https://sitstrings.com/

  • It's kind of wild to think an MIM signature bass is almost as much as the American Pro II line from Fender.

  • When you boosted the mids you backed off your playing. Some of us like to dig in hard to try to get some mid growl. I was waiting for that through the whole video but it never came. Good video otherwise.

  • Personally I think Mononeon sounded better when he played the P bass.
Anyway, between this and Dimension which is the better bass?
This one sounded closer to a Jazz which is brighter right?

  • Fender doesn't believe that the Devil's children (leftys) should have the luxury of playing a 5 string. Unless your willing to flip the bass upside down and craw your way to the high registers. Seeing that Sire introduce the Budget friendly M.M. V5 5ST 24fret, I might have to look elsewhere.

  • You know what…i always found b strings on mexican 5 string jazzes in particular quite bad for definition but as soon as you started playing that i said to myself "this jazz fin sings" sounds gorgeous

  • important to note that you have to put a neon colored sock over the head to unlock its full power

  • That bass it is outlandish… but not as outlandish as Mono Neon himself and the way he plays!!! <- thats a compliment to MN.

  • As always, B string of fenders suck lol. Sounds flappy. It's inherent to their design, now matter how expensive it is.

  • The bassist in my band has one, it outshines every other bass he’s got including fender ultras, Warwick’s, etc. super thin neck, awesome pickups, just ugly as sin.

  • Not going to lie lobster, love your reviews but its just your laugh after you play a bass that cringes me ???? love the vids tho

  • I have this bass and really like it. Great to play with a wide variety of tones. Sonny T had it on stage as a backup on the recent Cory Wong tour. I wanted to post a picture with this comment but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do that!?- by far the brightest thing on stage ????

  • good for Mono Neon, I hope he gets rich off the deal. FYI, his original basses were Lakland, inverted lefty 5 string.

  • No passive tone control – so they intend for it to be used either active (good), or passive without any tone control. Sounds more like they just missed – again. Like, this is an easy one. Why is it Fender just seems to get in its own way now?

  • I have one of the older Custom Modified satin models. I love the pickups but I changed the wiring to V, B, T. I also installed (for each pickup) a 3 way Series. Parallel. and single coil. Mine is satin black (I have to say that I prefer the black) and I put a white pearl pickguard. I also got a Squire 70s Jazz neck, maple maple with pearl block and binding.
A little heavy but when gigging I use a 5" leather strap made out of belt leather so the weight isn't as bad as it might. (4 hours are easy)
I use it mostly for recording. Very versatile and solid in any coil setting. Sound like this one but Mine a little more versatile. Also completely passive.
    OOPS…. mine is a 4 string.
