For the sake of transparency, Fender sent me the Twin Reverb Tone Master for review. I am not paid to say favorable things about any products you see on my site or on YouTube. I have been very critical of quite a few Fender products over the years but this amplifier totally rocks! They really nailed it!

  • I am awaiting Twin Reverb Tone Master 2.0 when Frender includes a affects loop along with other features, and another year servicing history…

  • looking at the blondey one with Celestion speakers, I just want to have it still functioning a decade on out so hopefully the lifespan is fine on these

  • It was the house amp at a 500 seat venue that I played at on Friday and it was set to the 5 watt setting. I was shocked at how loud it was. I just happened to look at the back of the amp and realized it was set at the 5 watt setting before I set it to the full 85!!! Luckily it didn't break up at all which is a sound that I totally hate it was just so clean and pristine.

  • Yes you can play this amp at a volume that will be perfect for your home or apartment. I had the same question and nobody seems to really answer this, so I just went and bought one myself. I was afraid it would be too loud and put the setting at 5 watt to start with and volume at 3. Then at volume 5 and it sounded fine. Next to 12 watt and volume 5 was starting to get loud. The one thing NOBODY seems to do is on the Vibrato channel there are 2 inputs where EVERYONE plugs into the input on the left. I plugged into the vibrato channel input on the right input and that does tone it down some. So I can say yes to this amp being home friendly. I did get the BLOND and they should be the same.

  • If I may ask, is it an issue that there’s no fx loop? I’d like to run some peddle’s like a delay…some say it’s better to run from fx loop, or will it be okay to put them last in the chain?

  • Hey Shane. I’ve been reading people saying that the Twin and Super are still too loud for home playing even attenuated down to 5 watts or 1 watt. One guy said his Super is loud enough to rehearse with his full band at 1 watt and the amp volume on 6. None of that makes any sense to me. I can comfortably play my old 12 watt Princeton at 5 in my bedroom. Can you definitively verify that the Twin is apartment friendly at 12 watt settings and lower? I really want the Twin instead of the Deluxe because I prefer the voicing, but I need to know it’s actually useable at home.

  • I am considering getting a Tone MASTER twin. But, I don’t understand why it needs firmware upgrades. Either the amp sounds great or it doesn’t. The last thing I need is another computer that needs upgrades every time I turn around.

  • Awesome review,, job well done ! For Christmas my wife purchased me a new Gibson 60s standard In blueberry burst.. She did not know I sold my Tube Fender twin reverb.. I started looking at a new Fender twin and could not believe the price. Not only that the price of new tubes.. I was really looking at having to size down, Until I came across your review.. I'm totally sold on the new tone master twin.. God knows I won't miss that 70 plus pounds.. Again thank you for taking the time to make this video..GregM from EXPLORING DARKNESS Ghost Media.. Stay safe my YouTube brother.

  • Hi Shane, Thankyou so much for these videos of the Tone Master series.. I'm considering buying the twin or Deluxe reverb and cant quite make my mind up which way to go.. My concern with the deluxe is that it seems to break up from vol on 5 + and i really need the clean to stay clean when louder as i use dist pedals.. with that in mind.. which one do you feel would be the better choice? Keep up the fab work and great playing too!

  • Just purchased a used model 2019 mfr. , as a horn player learning to use amp and strat , I am certain this will deliver the creative freedom across the spectrum of sound . Amen to modern Fender engineering.

  • First thing people should know. The Tone Master doesn’t take pedals well. If you keep the amp under breakup, pedals are great. As soon as you start pushing the amp up over 6(on the VOLUME) the amp starts reacting odd to pedals. & it’s not consistent, pedal to pedal. The good news is that you can crank the attenuator up, on the bigger amps, & just play under breakup. Just thought this should be clarified because, no one seems to be talking about it. I’ve had my TM twin for about a month, now. I love it. It’s so much more versatile than a tube amp. It sounds like a twin & it can do that in any setting. I was doing some A/B comparisons with my 5e3 tweed last night, just to see how I felt about the Tone Master, after a month. The result was “Wow, this still sounds awesome”. Of course, they are completely different amps that do completely different things. But, I didn’t cringe when I started playing through the Twin, after the tweed. It still sounded great. This is the future of amps. I believe that continued improvements & the versatility of these amps will make them the everyday players’ amp.

  • I have been playing for 40 years . Just purchased this amp , as my Vox was in for repair . I've owned several Fender tube amps, but this is the best by far .

  • You want to turn a Tone Master into a Super Tone Master…?

Put the Fender MTG Tube Distortion Pedal in front of it.
It gives it that warm-tube feeling & sound that fills the room just like tube amps do.
Very low gain / high volume settings to keep it clean.
Up the gain lower the volume to get tube break up / dirty / distortion.
HIgh mids if you want that sound.
It is basically now your pre-amp, a tube one.

Fender should make this pedal mandatory with each amp, it is THAT good of a combination.
I did it to the Twin, and I assume it would have same affect to the Deluxe.

On top of that I bought both Black and Twin to compare, and ended up swapping the speakers.
So it now has 1 British Celestion and 1 American Jensen speaker because I am a picky dumb ass who couldn't decide which one to keep. By accident I discovered that this is an amazing combination that HAS to be HEARD to be believed. With the pedal it is like a Boutique amp turning this into a Super Super Tone Master that can play any style you want with tube realism, yet with digital control for various volumes you want to play at —The big TM advantage in first place

Problem with swap: Now I have 2.
Sweetwater is very open with returns as they agreed to let me return one after testing both, but obviously I cant return a modded amp.
