Full review Jim Redgate 2021 No 493 www.concert-classical-guitar.com

All the Jim Redgate guitars are already sold when they arrive in the showroom. Hopefully, we got between 1 or 2 new guitars per year. The next one available will be in 2022. Contact us if you are interested to hold the guitar. Philippe and I played 10 years ago on Jim Redgate’s guitars and getting in our showroom a brand new guitar from Jim was for us our Holygraal! As the # 420 that Jim brought last year, this No 493 is a true dream guitar. The guitar is loud, warm, has great dynamics but remains traditional sounding. The body is as light as a traditional guitar which gives true pleasures to the player. A super light lattice guitar for a huge sound and a great pleasure.

  • I saw a comparison with this and Cordoba C12, although Cordoba is more affordable, I just love how this is built and the longer neck. But yeah it's kinda expensive ????

  • The Cordoba C12 is 80% capable of what this guitar does. And at a fraction of the price.

  • I love the detailed review, the descriptions, and explanations. Quite obviously, Philip is a great guitarist but the guitar… not my cup of tea. I like dark sound but this might be a little too dark. The notes generally lack firmness, particularly in the basses. The bass is deep but instead of getting one concrete note, it almost sounds like a cluster of microtones, very close to each other in pitch but not quite the same pitch. For that reason, I don’t think it’s possible to tune these guitars. Philip is a fine guitarist but you can hear how the guitar is out of tune in some places. Of course, Ana is totally world class but I will never understand why she plays those guitars. Jim must know this in order to be making changes to his guitars; most notably the flat back vs round but more is left to be desired on clarity of sound.
