  • I own the NEO IV 212 cabinet running it off a MESA WD800. A real beast of a rig. The cab sounds so sweet and is much more compact than you'd think. Since GK makes their own speakers you know the cabinet is going to be perfectly tuned for the speakers. Great review and excellent playing.

  • Nice review. I have the same as well as a second Neo IV 212 and a Fusion S 800. I shouldn't have bought the second cab. There is no real need for a second cab because that cab is loud as hell. I'm liking the Legacy 800 better than the Fusion S right now but I flip back and forth. I think the Legacy is snappier.

  • Always nice to come across gk reviewers who aren’t obsessed with overdrive and finger noise! Recently bought a fusion 800 and head but the legacy sounds so much more my style, thinking about getting the combo

  • Do you think an 8ohm 212 will be loud enough for bedroom practice? That’ll be 400 watts rather than the full 800.

  • Great video… I'm in the market for a new Head/Cab, using a Trace Elliot ELF Head w/2×8" cab. I mainly play at home these days; but looking for something different with more tone options/EQ. I've decided to go with the GK Fusion 800S 800 Watt amp (400 Watt at 8 Ohm, 800 Watt at 4 Ohm)…… I'm trying to decide between these cabs: One GK NEO 2×10" 500 Watt Cab (8 Ohm) OR One GK NEO 2×10" 800 Watt Cab (either 4 or 8 Ohm)…. I'm really looking for an amazing TONE over volume when at home……..but may eventually start playing out later on. I currently play a Rickenbacker 4003S and a Dingwall John Taylor Sig bass. Any opinions, etc? THANKS SO MUCH! I'm still learning the ins/outs of head/cab configurations. 😉

  • GK build quality isn’t great in my opinion. I got a new legacy and it was so noisy. Nasty hiss sound, it’s going back next week.

  • How loud is this amp? I'm trying to decide between the 800 or 500 watt version. I'll be getting the matching 4 ohm 410 cab.

  • Oh I have a Avatar 210 cab I can pair it with if I play outside that would be pretty damn loud.

  • I purchased that head and a 112 neo cab about a year ago. I can imagine the 212 would be intense. I usually play my 59 P bass or a parts P bass with a Aguilar 60's era pup and flats on both. With the 112 it kicks serious ass even in a six piece band. What I do is use the OD with just a little bit of distortion, the bump switch on, bass and low mid flat and mid high and treble backed off some. The trim at about 3 o'clock and master at about 11 o'clock. This past weekend we played at one of the better live venues in Memphis which I have played with various bass and amp combinations. The very experienced sound man said my sound was so round and tight he could not stop raving about it. I have a Markbass 800 which is a great head for clean tone but I think GK is better. Rave on.

  • I’ve got a Legacy800 112 combo. I’ve paired it with a Vanderkley MNT110 as an extension cab. Absolutely killer. Loud AF. 99% of the time it’s set flat with Bump engaged. I’m a dyed in the wool RB series fan but as an old timer I’m so grateful for the Legacy combo – only 32lbs. The only thing I’d say against is that the Drive is a bit too subtle ????

  • I bought this head a couple of years ago. I was indecisive about whether to go for the Fusion version or the Legacy. The Fusion indeed has that softer tone, but for some reason, the lamp in the preamp discouraged me, considering it could fall out during gigs, and tubes are easily breakable. On the other hand, the Fusion 500 was the same price as the Legacy 800, and a more powerful amp means more headroom. Also, there are too many options on the Fusion amp that I don't see the purpose of on the live stage, so I had no dilemma about the purchase.

The Legacy pairs easily with my old 1001RB MK1, perhaps one of the best I've tried in the Class D amplifier category. Before that, I had a MarkBass that sounded great in the room, but I never quite managed to get it right on stage.

Also, the DI output on any GK amplifier has the cleanest signal, so I wholeheartedly believe you when you say that the sound engineer is satisfied. Congratulations on your purchase, I think you'll be pleased in the years to come. 🙂

  • I was a longtime fan of SWR and had a couple of them but unfortunately now they have stopped making amps .
GK would probably be my go-to today if i was looking for something new based on they're track record and reliability to constantly pump out never ending great bass tones .

  • Congratulations bro !
    GK amps are real workhorses.
I can't tell you how many rehearsal studios i played at that had a GK head in the rooms . They take a real beating night after night and never die .
GK's are like cockroaches they'll probably be here long after us and still be working
    LOL ????

  • i am intrigued to know if this would pair well with upright bass – ive ordered the 212NEO cab (800@4ohms) & am considering the legacy 800 GK amp head (over the fusion S) as it seems to be a more modern version of the RB line.
