  • Great Review! Your review has been very helpful for me in choosing a device that I can use in my hotel room. One question- on this device can you cut and splice tracks for example: a chorus or bridge with a different tempo?

  • Hello Lukas
I learned that if you press track 1 & track 2 buttons down at the same time it connects & ties both Track 1&2 together into a stereo mix. You can do the same for track 3 and 4 pushing those 2 buttons down at the same time. I'm a giver not a taker LOL

  • Thank you Lukas this has been really really useful for me. There are so many fake reviews of zoom products. it's so good to have an intelligent breakdown of the functions.

  • Hi Lukas
    Great review.

I dont play guitar. I do play amateur saxophone as a soloist. Do you think that the Rythmns and Effects and Drums effects options would work with an instrument that you don't plug into the Zoom R4, maybe?

Reverb works across all instruments I think but im not sure about the guitar amp sounds and drum sounds and if I could layer them alongside my saxophone playing. Any thoughts?

While I was watching your video it suddenly occurred to me that all those options might only be for the guitarist benefit. I use my saxophone raw or I can mic it accordingly.

    Kindest regards

  • I like it but everything I record distorts when played on other devices. I keep the track volumes low, the acoustic instruments are low volume, the recordings sound fine through headphones on the R4. But after bouncing and exporting, it's a distorted mush on all other speakers!! What am I doing wrong?!

  • the FX and the UI is better than they sold on the H4N…that i’ve had for like,,,,15years..or sth.. but, other than that…
    did i miss a Looping feature ??
(cos that’s the only thing i would get one of these for, i reckon.)
thanks very much, for the video.

  • back in the day, me and the bassist in our band both got multi track recorders because we thought we would record individual parts, and switch out every couple weeks so we could work on adding to what the other made. but we never ended up doing that ever and years later i sold mine for heroin money at the pawn shop

  • Great review! Love that it has the combo XLR/6.3mm jack, that's the one thing that makes me still reach for my Zoom H5 over my Tascam Portacapture X6 sometimes
