Gary Clark Jr Numb Guitar Solo with TAB
I love Gary Clark’s guitar playing. His guitar tone on Numb is unbelievable. It took a lot of work to emulate his sound. I used a couple of vintage Fender amp Emulations and a ton of slap back Delay from a delay unit and from a tape machine as well as an EMT 140 reverb emulator. I also used a Big Muff going through a Tube Screamer on both amps with the settings cranked to 10. I found a really good video on YouTube that demonstrated how the sound was achieved (Link Below). It’s funny how all this technology has been out since the 60’s. Oftentimes I find this overdriven Blues tone more menacing than an 8 string guitar going through the most high gained metal amp.
I was little disappointed to find out that Gary’s debut album was more of an R&B record than a hardcore blues album but that’s ok, to each his own. The fact that he can play all these diverse styles of music is definitely not a bad thing.
