  • Great thanks, must be really bad as there is no other review on youtube apart from yours. All can be seen its the shop showcasing it. Today days cheap should not equal "cheap"

  • I own one of these and I am very impressed given it's price. After you changed your pick up, how difficult is it to change the magnet in the original pickup to a stronger one?

  • Ok, clicked on this because I was interested in the bass, but I have to ask…

Yin-Yang… Pagan? What are you blithering on about?

Its a philosophical symbol from Taoism that represents opposite yet interconnected balance. Taoism is NOT Pagan! Not even slightly. As a form of philosophical spiritualism they have no gods. Pagan, specifically means multiple gods.

  • Strap???
I use one even when I am seated. To be congruent with regard to having my instrument in the same place/position either seated or standing. Looks like you got one attached, but it isn't around your neck/shoulder. Perhaps I am mistaken.
    Weak?
it is a passive bass, yeah? Our pre-amps solve that issue, do they not? OH! I went back to re-listen, and I heard you say that you're going into an interface. Big mistake.
I ran my fretless 5 into an interface for a bit as I was finishing up some of my electronic music production.
But once I sorted that, my focus was 100% bass Guitar. So I got myself a sweet Hartke 4×10 and Hartke 350 watt head and WOW!
So much punch and fullness. But like you, the overall output was mad weak. And the pickups in my active bass are hoy ASL. Even in passive mode.
So with that said… Despite having a high quality interface, mixing console, and monitors; those things are in no way an ideal "bass rig." You know?
But now… (and please do not think I am being adversarial, etc. as I truly feel that your review is the best Chicago Bass review on the tubes, etc), since you mentioned NOT using this instrument for a gig, it would have been really helpful had you run the demo through a real rig. Don't you think?
Regardless, I humbly appreciate you taking the time to record and share this with us. You have a new subscriber mate.
I am hoping that my Chicago 5 string comes in the post tomorrow so i don't have to wait until Monday to plug it into my rig (into a proper "passive" input socket) and see what's up with that low B.
    Cheers

  • I've got one of these being delivered next week so was keen to see how it sounded. Sounds pretty good but I'd been planning to always play it through my compressor to even out the response, even more so now!

  • Could you raise the pickup height on the bass strings? Maybe that would raise the volume. Maybe add a shim under it and longer screws if needed.
