Get Better at Making Music – Dealing with Discomfort

Sometimes creating feels like a blissful joy. Other times, it feels uncomfortable and disheartening. But there’s something to be found on the other side of that creeping feeling, and you have to sit with that uncomfortableness for a while before you can find it. Watch me squirm through the songwriting process for my new song, ‘Wasting Time’. I bump up against writer’s block but eventually break through to the other side after sitting with the uncomfortable feeling of being stuck.

In Songwriting with Alec, I take you through the step by step process of how to write a song so you can see there are no secrets to making music. I write lyrics and play guitar, bass, synths, and drums in my home studio in Austin, TX, where I work as a musician, producer and recording engineer.
