Get THIS GUITAR While You Can (Firefly Baritone Guitar Review)
Firefly Guitars has blown my mind once again, by releasing a baritone guitar, with a 30 inch scale length… for $170! Crazy! This is the most affordable baritone guitar you can get, and it rocks! With B standard tuning, you can play 7 string riffs on a 6 string guitar. The awesome rounded ball end frets make it easy to play and the tone is monstrous.

Thanks for the video its been very informative ,, I have been considering buying or building a Baritone guitar
January 2025. Can’t find one.
I just bought one. It's not really a baritone but more of a bass VI and it needs heavier strings. Apart from that, the electronics are absolute cheapo shite!! And it was obviously wired up by a complete moron at the factory. Both pickups were on in the neck position, the pots were wired backwards and the wire used was the thinnest I have ever seen!! I've had to rip it all out and make my own harness. It's cheap yes but whoever wired it needs sacking!!!
Which one would you pick, Max? 30" offset or the 28" LP-style? They also have a 28" SG- style up now, but I imagine it could have a neck-dive problem.
That first riff sounded a bit like Dark Avenger by Manowar
Just saw your new EVH vid from Firefly and was wondering if they sold Baritones…well needless to say you did not disappoint with your review of it!
0:04sec into the video & BORINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG shape
Lay the guitar flat on the floor on string change. Take a green 3M pad and run it along the back of the neck. Spray it off with just a window cleaner, etc. Then clean the front as necessary. Then put new strings on and go. The 3M pad will make the neck perfect and you can still polish the back of the neck back to glossy if you want or sell it. I've done it to every one of my glossy necks. Zero problems.
I've always preferred baritone to standard guitars. I just really don't like squeaky instruments, like flutes and such.
To my mind, the ultimate rock/metal ensemble would be standard guitar for lead, baritone guitar on rhythm, and a 5-string bass handling the bottom. That gives everyone a pretty wide sonic lane to play in, but still allows overlap when needed.
Nice adaptation of the band sleep. Doom metal rules. . But yeah that was sweet anyone who's a fan of sleep would have noticed what you were playing by chance for YouTube and it was f**** nice good going man I love you videos
Pearls before swine! Sorta.
Sounds like Type O
Love your videos….. however, you keep dissin on the gloss necks and there are actually many players, including myself, who prefer a GLOSS finish…. as matter of fact, a guitar neck without a gloss finish is like an unfinished guitar. Only exception might be the Yamaha REV star but they do have a sort of a finish to it, it's not just plain wood …
Geez, that’s just plain cool sounding.
As always Max
I want !
I'm not sure I am going to order from firefly but damn You are killing it with that fender mustang. I'm looking for a used one. i have a JCM-800 2204 and I love it but I want to experiment with different effects and tones and this thing is sounding great. Thanks Bro.
FYI, that lick at 7:13, looks easy but I am having a hell of a time getting the timing down.
Looks incredible!
No longer available haha
Drummer/bassist here who occasionally struggles to dabble in guitar. Recently took delivery of a Firefly Tele and could not be more impressed with the build quality and buck bangishness. Since I prefer 5 string bass the baritone may have been a better choice (were it available) but here’s my question, is there a reason why baritone guitars never seem to have a trem system?
Yeah, like he said few months later, it’s really hard to find one of those but it’s on my maybe possibly perhaps one day list
I got one of these too! Any pickups you recommend to swap? The stock ones suck!
Great review…
I like the sound and look of this guitar. Especially when you played like a six string lead. As of now July 26, 2023 they have them on guitarsgarden.
With a 30 inch scale, you can tune it like a bass and use it as a 6 string bass, like the Fender Bass IV.
very type o vibes on that intro riff. i want more
Permanently out of stock XD
To avoid confusion I'd avoid calling a regular guitar a tenor, as that's already a distinct thing
How about neck radius?? You keep forgetting that!!
Looks like it’s not listed on their website anymore. Hopefully they restock soon.
I prefer gloss necks ????
Not on the website anymore. What is it with these companies and discontinuing these baritone models?
Baritone is a tuning.
I bought the Firefly Baritone Telecaster for $170. It is a 27 inch scale and sounds incredible. I was torn between the one you bought and the Tele. I absolutely love it. I cannot believe it is so affordable. Of course, I had to do the TRAIN, but that is for any new guitar. I didn't have to adjust the truss rod. I did adjust the action because I like it low. I set the intonation. It was just a little off. I also filed the nut just a little. It plays like a dream. I want to change the pickups, but that will come later. I enjoy your videos.
I really want to get one of these to use as a Bass VI but they are gone
Of course it is gone as soon as I learn of it existing…
I'm sold
